After being newly diagnosed 5 months ago, my doctor started me on 30 mg Vyvanse and increased me over two months to my current dosage of 70mg. The changes were immediate and life altering!

With that said, for the last two months I have felt like the Vyvanse is not working for me as well as it did early on in my treatment. I am certainly far better off than I was prior to starting the Vyvanse but I can feel my symptoms occurring more frequently now as compared to the first 3 months on the med. Interestingly, I am now finding myself ravenously hungry which seems to be contradictory to the typical side effect of Vyvanse. For the first 3 months I had very diminished appetite. Does this make sense? I should mention that I have had no change in life circumstances and my stress level has not recently changed.

I'm looking for an experienced opinion on whether this is potentially:
1. Purely a placebo effect
2. Drug tolerance
3. Dose related

I go to see my doc soon and would like to know more about this before I discuss it with him. Thank you so much to anyone who can help me with this issue!

We're on similar time lines with this med and, like I mentioned in a previous post, my weight has gone up slightly. I don't feel a loss in focus and improvements in being able to tune out distractions... just need to watch what I'm eating more closely.. and when I'm eating. No hunger in the day, but after work that's been a different story.

Pleased with the med though, and it still continues to work well for me. Rather be on it then not! My doc has said that there is no tolerance build up with Vyvanse... and that it should be working the same ten years from now. One can hope!!

Hopefully, I've gotten the point of your post correctly (I just woke up and I haven't had my vyvanse yet). The weight gain? I personally have been on it since september and haven't gained a pound.

So when you say that your "ravenously hungry"...

are you really hungry(like your stomach is growling at you and you feel weak from not having eaten)

or is it more ok...I really need something a little more to do...where's the food?

Did you change your water intake?(that's normally the cause for me to feel really hungry during the day)

I am also new to Vyvanse. This is my 4th day on it. It has significantly reduced my appetite (hoping this effect will last) I went from 201 to 193 in 4 days. I know what you mean about the ravenously hungry effect, however I have only experienced this in the evenings after the medication has likely worn off, as I am also having problems sitting still at night.
I have my follow up in a few weeks and I am going to discuss with my Dr, to possibly change my dosage so my evenings do not become a battle of will power to concentrate and also not become a garbage disposal. Fortunately the dry mouth effect has forced me to increase my water intake, which it turns keeps me from eating too much as well.
My major concern with the eating habits is not weight gain (althought I am happy with the loss) it is the effect with may have on my IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) If I eat to much and then go to sleep it can have very uncomfortable, nauseating effects on my stomach, making me feel ill the whole following day.
My initial hope in starting ADD OCD treatment was to help me be able to relax, sit still, and calm my mind at home. Work is not a huge problem (although I have noticed my productivity has increased), but I am looking forward to better results at home after my followup.
Any comments are greatly appreciated as I am new to the forum as well as medications of this nature.

It is a very common mistake to think thirst is hunger, Try increasing your clear fluid ( most of that being water ) intake,

one of the serious side effects of vyvanse is a constant thirst... ( for me at least )
