I was taking 15-20mg Adderall once or twice a day for ADHD, and got my doctor to switch me over to dexedrine 5mg tablets(mall) 25mg/day. I'm wondering how I should dose this starting out, I've heard that the first few days on dexedrine can feel placebo-esque coming from Adderall. I've started with 10mg a day, should I stick with this dose due to the aforementioned adderall-dex transition issue, or try 15mg? I found 20mg of adderall to give me the best focus, but the peripheral stimulation was too much, so usually went with 15mg. I'd like to use a lower dose if possible if it would work, so stay with 10mg for how many days?
Also wondering what the typical price difference is between say 3 5mg tablets and a 15mg spansule in your experiences?
I think you should dose exactly as your Dr suggested that you dose. ;)
He gives me a lot of leeway in that regard to find what works best, simply indicating that i should take between 2-5 tabs a day. I'm mainly asking about the adderall->dexedrine transition, with the dexedrine feeling weaker at first, have you personally experienced that?
No sorry, when I tried Adderall it was many years ago before trying Dexedrine.
I take IR forms of both Adderall and Dexedrine on a daily basis. I'm prescribed Adderall 30's, which I can break up to suit my needs. For Dexedrine, I'm prescribed 5's for which I'm directed to take no more than 7.5mg at a time due to my own limits.
I don't have any set pattern as to how I take them, but instead have my own dosage rules that I have learned from my own experience by working separately with the two for lengthy periods of time, and then combining the two together to find out how they work together.
When I started taking Dexedrine, I used the composition of Adderall as a guide to figure out where to start, since I had been taking it first. Also, I always gave myself a few days at the same dose to let the effect level off before deciding whether to go up or down.
Note that Adderall is 1/4 dextroamphetamine sulfate. Perhaps you can use this as a guide to start with.
