I find that I have a problem with this, or more accurately, with nearly bumping into people. Everywhere I go, the journey is full of "oops, sorry", "excuse me" "my bad" as I seem to bounce off of peoples auras like a pinball....
... probably because I tend to zone out when I'm walking alone, esp. if it's crowded.

Anyone else?

*sigh*

Me too ..... except in my case i do often bump/walk into people or else they walk into me because I've suddenly changed direction

Do you think this happens purely because of you zoning out? .... Or do you have problems with spatial awareness too.

Sometimes add and spatial awareness/clumsiness can be linked according to Dore/Learning breakthrough stuff if I've understood it right

I'm having real difficulty learning to drive at the moment very much for the same reason :o

i'm careful not to bump into people, but i do run into everything else. Doorways, tables...parked cars. Clumsy me.

Ha ha... Tracy, good answer. I bump into people all the time, especially when I get distracted by something and turn my head, then WHAM! BHAM! OUCH! I bumped into a corner the other day and let me tell you, I still feel the pain! 'nuff said!

oof, i bump into people and things all the time! even with meds!

i remember reading in Driven to Distraction where he mentions this as a common occurance...as well as drifting sideways while walking.

that was a definite aha! moment for me, because my whole life, i have always drifted sideways while walking..either into the person i'm walking with, or just random.

my friend has a little rat terrier that also drifts sideways when she's walking or running that's hilarious to watch...i always say Lily-dawg loves me so much cuz she has ADHD too!

Yea, I can get like this if I don't watch myself, but for me I can get a little involved with how I walk, for example, what I LOVE OH I LOVE IT, is when I'm walking through the hallways at school, and I'll just start, dodgeing people, and spinning, and twisting my body to I pretty much dance through a large group of people, OH I LOVE DOING IT! I don't ever bump into people, I'm really good at it. Plus I like the challange, "ok, leats see if I can do it holding theese books"

but if I'm absorbed in thought (AH! Deep thought monster!) then I don't see ANYThing! it doesn't actually happen that often, but its like people just start randomley moveing, and its like AH! what are you doing in front of me!? =bam= o..oops sorry!

Its like I drift out of focus, or something.

My favorite is when you are zoned/walking and sure you may not be able to pull off a perfectly straight line but BAM, the person in front of you decides their ankle itches and they stop! Of course I have no excuse for the desk that has been sitting in the same spot for years, yet I keep finding a way to ram my hip into it. Now the couches I swear the kids move back and forth a few inches a day just to screw with me :)

LOL! you guys try to walk in strait lines? everytime I map my route around a room its always "between that person, and him, and she keeps, ok, so avoied, and 2 steps over" you know, one of those conversations in your head that goes in the blink of an eye.

so I'm dodgeing left and right of people, and hopping around on one foot, its really perquiller to watch me roam a room thats for sure, strait lines are non-optional!!!

I tend to walk into people or objects quite frequently. I'm usually looking around at everything going on around me I guess and not focusing on walking forward in a straight line.

Yes indeedy do, I do bump into people and have since childhood. My mother was always saying "Why don't you watch where you're going?" I found that pretty frustrating, since I never saw the people that she was sure I was about to bump into. Just suddenly they would be there.

I'm also a paid up member of the Purple Thigh Club, having had my share of run-ins with corners of tables and filing cabinets and things like that. In addition, I'm usually just a half step short of tripping over something or other, or walking off balance. I imagine if the police pulled me over and asked me to walk a straight line, I wouldn't do much better than a guy with a mickey and a six pack under his belt.

You know what the worst is for me? I keep tearing up new shoes. I scuff them on everything, so I stopped buying expensive shoes for work and just get okay shoes, because I know they will be toast within a few short months....
