i just graduated and have no insurance. i used to get meds from my school doc with insurance. now that i have to study intensely for my board exams. i went to local doctor because i was desperate. i dont think focalin xr (20mg) is working for me anymore. it makes me "scattered" and i cant focus on studying. i keep on stopping during my study time and studying just doesnt go well. i recently tried my friend's adderall. wow it was so much better, i could study very smooooooooothly, no scattering or stopping. i went to dr to ask to switch to adderall. she gives me 5 mg to start out and then 10 mg the rest of the time for 15 days. i tell her thats too low becuz im on 20 mg of focalin. she says she has to cuz its a new drug for me and she doesnt want me to go into cardiac arrest. what can i say? so i go get it filled..and turns out its freaking 170 dollars. no generic available for xr. great. so my dr visit was 60 and meds were 170 for measly 5mg of 30pills. i feel so ripped off. focalin costs 120 for 20 mg of 30 pills. i duno what to do. i feel stuck. its probably because shes a general md not a psychitrist but i dont wanna shop around cuz i dont have insurance. so today was my first day of 5mg. puahhahah yeah right didnt do anything to me.
like i said before i dont like focalin because its not helping me study..i also noticed i get tired later during the day. ive been on it for 6 months during school and i have no problems but now that im not in school and trying to study by myself its not working anymore.
is it safe to take it together? will it help me at all? do you guys understand anything im saying? ahhhhhhh

Your doctor can tell you if its likely okay for you but its certainly okay for some people as they have mentioned on this forum they use various amphetamine formulations in combination with various methylphenidate
formulations.

Though reading your post if amphetamines are superior to
methylphenidates for your problems. Its more logical to find the correct dose of amphetamine. Schedule two drugs are limited to 30 day supply at a time anyway. Which means your going back and paying to see the doctor ever 30 days. So she is likely to up your dose then.
