Hi. I'm completely new here and recently diagnosed with adhd. I started Metadate cd 20mg roughly 2 weeks ago and switched to concerta 36mgs and took my first dose of that yesterday. I switched because I needed something to last longer than the metadate. I've had no problems at all with the metadate and so far so good today with the concerta. My problem is, I've developed a rash in the last few days on my inner thighs and also on my ankles. It's rather itchy. The rash on my thighs I don't think is hives because they are more pin point kind of bumps but the rash on my ankles could very well be. They are more broad and itch like crazy! I know it's not the concerta as like I said, I just started it today and this was here yesterday and possibly the day before. If it were from the metadate cd wouldn't that have been more of an immediate reaction? Like after the first time I took it or so? Like I said, I've been taking this for 2 weeks now. Is it possible it's still a reaction to the meds. My only other possibility is that I've started using a neti pot in the last 2 or 3 days. Perhaps the solution is doing, I don't know. It just seems like it's a saline solution.

Any thoughts? Sorry for rambling. And thanks!

Lynne

My son has a mosquito like bite rash. He was on metadate and got it and now is on vyvanse and got it too.

No clue as doctor says it's from picking as the med is a stimulant through body. Can't be as the rash is all over and even on his back so he can't pick there too.

Let me know if yours is similar or if you know what it is.

I would call your doctor and have the rash looked at immediately. It might be Stevens-Johnson syndrome (which in extreme cases can be fatal). I"m not a doctor, but this comes to mind since I just began a med which can cause this (ok so far). Hopefully it's nothing serious, but it's better to have it checked now than have the problem worsen.

I just posted on here something very similar that happened to me while taking Adderall...I'm also wondering if I am reacting to the medicine? Since skipping just one day of Adderall stopped the itching and rash! The doc insisted people don't get those types of rashes from medication...he thinks they all look one certain way-flattened slightly raised patches only. I disagree with him, anyone else?

My son stopped taking the medication and immediately the rash disappeared. It looks like he was bitten by mosquitos although it's winter. This is the 2nd time we stopped medication due to the same rash (last time it was a different ADD medicine). I was even told it could be bed bugs and was scared to death. No, it wasn't and I cleaned every corner of his room and had mattress covered.

The rash disappeared within 48 hours once the meds were stopped. I waited a full week, put him back on and 72 hours later the rash was back.

I guess he's off meds until they come up with something else and the rash disappeared again so it's definitely the medication.
