I am 27 and taking 120 mg of Strattera. Ive been taking strattera for several months and it has not been helping with inability t focus and concentrate or preventing my mind from wandering. the doctor just recently increased the doseage to 120 and it makes me feel like im about to vomit and dizzy. he told me to just take 60 mg. what other meds work that wont make me jittery or have jaw clenching or tics and all those side effects?

unfortunately there is no ONE best med. no two people will react the same to the same drug.

That said, If adjusting the dose of strattera hasn't helped then it's probably time to try another med.

I don't know much about strattera but going from 60 to 120 seems like a huge jump to do quickly. Maybe increase slowly?

I'm taking adderall. I've tried Dexedrine, but found Adderall to be the best med for ME.

Don't lose hope yet, especially if you've only tried one med. Sometimes it is trial and error. You may need to test a few meds, and then adjust dosing, before you find what works.

Straterra is a non stimulant. Maybe try something in the stimulant family. Dont' quote me, but I believe it's rather common for docs to prescribe a stimulant first because of the success in treating ADHD symptoms.
(Ritalin, Adderall, etc.)

Google, read here a lot, and most importantly openly discuss this with your doctor. I personally never go into my drs. office without already knowing what I want to try. I'm not fond of trying something I know nothing about.

Keep reading the individual forums for each med to learn about them. Google for additional info if necessary. Unfortunately, there's no handy manual for this.

I tried Strattera personally but I found that amphetamines like Adderall were much better.

Strattera seemed to me like more of a 'long term' drug that had to 'build up' in my system (like an antidepressant almost) while amphetamines you just have to take in the morning and they work that day instantly.

I remember that changing your dose of Strattera (making a big jump anyway like say from 60mg to 120mg) can completely **** you up because your body will have to get used to it and it's hard with that big of a change.

Also, the side effects for me were horrendous. I'm a guy, and just about every bad urological side effect occurred - erectile disfunction, loss of sex drive, urinary flow problems, etc. Basically made me feel like an old man 'down there'.
