I'd find it beneficial if age, gender and perhaps type of ADHD (optional?), if you are ADHD or non-ADHD, were displayed along with the avatar everytime you post. I think it would help to understand or see any possible connections, and to "get to know" the other members and distinguish them. You don't know anything about the other people replying the way it is now. Any shot of adding some of this information?

Some of us put some information in our signatures. Maybe we could add more to that?

That's a good suggestion. However, many members not want their age displayed everywhere they posted. This is why there is room in a profile to add that information.

Why is that? I think it's helpful, considering what this forum is about. I usually don't like my age to be displayed on other forums, but here I feel it would have some informative value.

I guess its a personal choice. Some people are more open and public about their disorders, age, etc. A member can use the profiles to put descriptions about themselves, if they want...including this information. We haven't made it a policy to require that members do so however.

hmmm I am not sure why it would matter if I were 29 or 54? Age doesn't necessarily equate maturity.

The only time displaying my age might have helped a member understand me is when I gave the member "the same advice I would my child" - if my age were in view and if the member would have paid attention to it then the possibility that my children were no longer small might have crossed his mind preventing him from feeling offended - as for the rest of my 10,083 post my age seems to be irrelevant - as for this one post a simple clarification to the fact my children are adults and an apology for failing to clarify this previously was all that was necessary. . .

For this I am grateful -

Well, maybe we could put a sticky in the Introduction forum.

Something like:

Many members like to put some information in their signatures to help others get to know them better. Suggested information includes:

Geographical location
Age
Gender
Diagnosis
Medication
Therapy or treatments
Job

Please feel free to put as much or as little information as you'd like in your signature. Please keep signatures to the above information only so as to keep them fairly short. See the example below this post.

No information is forced into the signature. You can be completely anonymous here and no one will look down on it.

Thanks for joining!

I would encourage all those that feel comfortable sharing personal information about themselves to do so. However, this should in no way make any members feel pressured to do so. Feel free to use your signatures or profile to share information about yourself, if you wish.

Again, this is a suggestion ONLY and members are not expected nor obligated to share any more of themselves than they're comfortable doing.

I think this is a great idea about sharing more details about ourselves.

I tried to add this picture of myself to my signature, but it just would not work there. :(

I Guess I could use it as an avatar, but I am just too attatched to that yin yang one I'm already using. Oh well, at least I tried. :)

The more info, the better. Optional of course.

I know I would feel uncomfortable knowing that in every post i have submitted on this forum theres personal data about me, also you must consider that having their dx on the internet, people can identify who that person is and if they are employed and didn't disclose the dx it cause some problems.
