ADDF did have it's own chatroom but I'm assuming this feature was taken down due to lack of participation.

I was wondering if a shoutbox type of arrangement would be a good idea, one that a user can have the option of activating and that when activated they get a side bare up on the right side which contains a shout box, or a simplified chatroom kinda thing, this shoutbox would stick in the panel on the right where ever the user goes when he/she is browsing around the forum, I think that it would have to have the minimum features:

login
PM
public message

to start with, i suppose later down the line an arrangement of smiles could be added (we all know how much people love their emoticons :) )

I just thought that this would solve something that may have been hindering participation before hand:

1) not easy to find
2) had to load in a seperate window so user had to keep switching back and forth or have annoying noises bleeping at them alerting them to a new message which might not even be for them.

Just an idea

have a good day :)

We'll take a look at the available shoutbox mods again soon. The reason I have stayed away from adding a shoutbox is because of the extreme loads some of them add to the site/server. You wouldn't think something so seemingly simple could add a lot of overhead, but this has been something larger forum admins have stayed away from.

Maybe with this generation of software someone will code something that is efficient.

Thanks,
