I agree - the addition of the arcade is...tricksy at best. However, since its there, I might as well go kick butt...

LOL ... this kind of an evil... I can live with! Specially since these are games I wanted while growing up (at least some of them) and couldn't have because we couldn't afford them. My cousins' had them though.

We could probably block you and others that are having problems with spending too much time in the arcade!?? lol If you really want, of course.. :p

I can resist the arcade alright, though it looks fun. I nearly sidestep in there everytime I go to "new posts" because the arcade tab is where new posts used to be. :mad: :p

Could you block me too? I'm tired of fighting agains clicking it.

Andrew, you can block per group. Maybe if you put the users into a group that don't want to se the arcade.
I think the ability to block is very important - time wasting is a very easy thing for us to do. I for one struggle with it a lot.

Yes, we can limit per user group, but we'll need to be careful how we create it - not to mention the additional workload such an undertaking would have on staff. We'll look into the best way to go about it.

Why not using a password and that's it?

Why would we make it difficult for members to access it? I realize that the temptation to play games is difficult for some members, and we're going to see what can be done to accommodate the few that can't resist the urge...but we will not be placing general restrictions on access to these and other forum features.

honestly, I understand it's hard but it is a great way to work on self-control. Use it as motivation .. . "if I get _______done, then I get to play games on ADDF" Self-control isn't easy to learn, but it's an important skill. you don't have to push the "arcade button"

please, realize that we also have other things going on in our lives (we are volunteers) and something like creating user groups, passwords, etc, takes time away from the rest of our lives and other important things that need to happen at ADDF.

It takes 5 minutes to set up a usergroup and the necessary permissions....

Not in the context of this site, though. A lot of things have changed with vBulletin in v3.7.0. A forum I help run elsewhere has had some issues moving to v3.7.0. Remember it still is a beta, so there'll be bugs.

Besides, with such an active site, you can't go around making arbitrary changes here and there. If something breaks, then a lot of people will be disappointed.

The admins also are doing this voluntarily, so be patient, and they'll more than likely accommodate.
