Has anyone tried this combo? If so, how did it work for you? Did you notice any side affects?

Never took Lamictal. Did take abilify. The restlessness I got from abilify was bad. On the insert it's termed "akithesia". I got this even from a 1mg dosage. If this happens they can add a med to counteract it, reduce the dose, or change the medicine.

Cool, Thank you for your response, I will keep an eye out for it.

I got akithisia from Abilify also. My dr. started me at 2 mg. and it happened the first time I took it. I was taking 10 mg. for a few weeks, but the restlessness got so bad, I felt like I was crawling out of my skin. The abilify also ended up making me manic-- we'll just call that little episode "sex and shopping" and leave it at that.

Not to scare you, I doubt very many people get manic from Abilify, but it can happen. My psychiatrist is waiting to start me on Lamictal till I calm down (we're trying Seroquel for that). I always have very bizarre reactions to drugs, so he wants to make sure I'm stable before we start the Lamictal.

I hope this combo works for you, I've been trying for months and still can't find the right med cocktail. Hopefully, it won't take long for you.

Hi SuperChan! Just thought I'd stop by this thread and ask how you're doing. I hope the combo's working for you. Let us know.

I started Lamictal about 3 weeks ago, and seem to being ok on it. So I just started the combo two days ago. Yesterday morning I woke up with terrible nausea, never did get sick though (thank goodness). However, all through yesterday, and all morning today I have been feeling "stupid"; simple concepts seem like a foreign language and I can't focus. AHHH. I'm hoping the side affects go away.

I have a tendency to get motion sick very easily. Taking Abilify really exacerbated that for me-- it was so bad I couldn't take a taxi or even a bus. I had to take the subway everywhere and even that bothered me a little bit. Hopefully that will abate in time.

Now I am just experiencing anxiety and sleepiness. But hey, it is better than yesterday, and better than the day before. Hopefully it will continue. How long did your motion sickness last?

Till I stopped taking the Abilify. I still get it (I always have), but it's not as severe.

I took Abilify and Lamictal for about 8/9 months. It was a great combo at first until I began to notice the edema in my legs and hands. It took almost 6 months before I noticed and when it hit, I couldn't wear most of my shoes. At first we didn't think it was the Abilify but shortly after I stopped taking it, the edema went away. It was terrible, since, outside of this side effect, was working well.

It's amazing the strange things that meds can do to us. I read the full physician prescribing info. every time I take a new med and I've still had bizarre reactions not encountered in clinical trials.

Just an update, under docs care, I have discontinued the meds. I'm not sure about continuing the Lamictal. I got a hives rash about 5 days after I started the Abilify, so, now that this two meds I am allergic too. :(

I always get the rare side affects too. I honestly felt so sorry for my son a couple of days ago. I think I got a good picture of how it feels to be ADHD; I could not stop moving and I could not focus. This was after I was taking the abilify alone because I was unsure if the rash was from the Lamictal. (I went to the doc that night and they said it wasn't from the Lamictal)

My husband and I do the same thing too. If there is any "rare" side affect we don't think we can tolerate, we wont take it.

Hey Superchan-

I've been on Abilify since April. Then felt numb and sad. Like feeling nothingness. Just last week my doctor started me on Lamictal. I take both at night and Adderal in the morning.

So far seems to be okay. Hard to tell so early. Let me know about ur side effects. I know Lamictal has one rare nasty one with sores around mouth.

lol, so far I'm good on that one.
