So I'm taking 50mg Adderal for ADHD and its really helpful I like it a lot...300mg Effexor XR was good but I guess it just stopped working for me cause I've started getting really depressed again (I have severe depression/anxiety) so today when I was at my psychiatrist she put me on 150mg of Wellbutrin to slowly ease off Effexor I guess? has anyone else taken these 3? I don't mind the weight loss cause I could loose a few pounds its just how quick possibly would it take for me to feel better? even if its just a slight improvement..I don't know if I could wait like 6 weeks to see some difference... by the way i'm 17 and ive been on them since i had just turned about 16..i know they don't usually perscribe them for teens but i guess i'm just a lucky duck..

Wellbutrin is known to cause anxiety in a lot of people who take it. It is mainly used to treat depression. I would talk to your pdoc about SSRI's like Zoloft or Celexa/Lexapro.

I have taken Celexa in the past and I'm currently on 100mg of Zoloft. Both have been effective in treating my anxiety and depression symptoms.

I also take Vyvanse (30mg) to treat my ADD and find it a lot smoother than Adderall. The Vyvanse works for the full 12 hours for me.

I don't think Vyvanse is available in Canada yet.

Wellbutrin could take 6-8 weeks to have any effect on depression. I was on it for 8 weeks and tapered off for 1 week since it didn't help with my anxiety.

If you suffer from increased anxiety, during the time your waiting for Wellbutrin to take effect, you might ask your pdoc to prescribe a benzo like Xanax or Klonopin temporarily to help.

Dear BritBrat,
I've taken all three (and more) at one time with good effect. In fact, Effexor was the most effective anti-depressant I've ever taken, but it spiked my blood pressure so I had to come off of it. BTW, the trip down off Effexor was one of the most difficult I've ever experienced for an antidepressant. Good luck.

One more bit of gratuitous advice: I'm not an MD and I certainly do defer to your doc's advice. But in my own experience, coming cold turkey off of Wellbutrin was simply awful - gave me a panic attack, the first and hopefully last I'll ever have. Per my doc, who didn't know I was planning such a quick shift, prescribed Ativan for several days, and put me back on the Wellbutrin for another few days before started a more gradual descent. Everybody's system is different, but I thought I'd share my experience for you to consider before pulling the immediate plug from your regimen.

thank you...but coming off wellbutrin was fine for me i just stopped and i was okay...i was getting the panic attacks and everything WHILE on wellbutrin and when i stopped my anxiety was a lot less...my effexor was good..in the beginning....now it just seems to have stopped and she cant give me a higher dose cause ive already got the limit...what she wants to do is give me something with the effexor and gradually as we increase one then we'll decrease the effexor and stuff...i dunno i just really wanna stop being so depressed..its been a horrible 4 weeks...

Hello,

I have just registered on this site I don't belong to any formus so I'm still conffused on how it works. My name is Curtis I'm in Denver.
I found this thread looking for information on mixing medications. My physician had me on Methalin for a couple of months until I could get in with a psychiatrist who has recently put me on the much better Vyvanse. I have a really bad drinking problem that we have started to address this week. He prescribed me Celexa and Lorazepam. The first day I took them, I blacked out and ran into a parked car. I think it was from the Lorazepam so I have only taken the Vyvanse and Celexa. Today I found on drugs.com a statement to avoid taking these two together.
burmun, do you notice bad interactions?
