Is Dexedrine/dextroamphetamine approved for the treatment of adult ADHD in the USA? I noticed in a Focalin pamphlet that it's saying that Focalin, Strattera, and Adderall are the only FDA-approved drugs for Adult ADHD treatment.

Does your insurance pay for your dextroamphetamine prescription? I assume if they do then it's a common off-label prescription if it's not FDA-approved.

I want to try dextroamphetamine but it didn't seem like it's an option with my p-doc. I think that Adderall just isn't going to work out for me.

Doctors prescribe off label all the time -- that's not unusual. I haven't heard about dexedrine being specifically approved for adult ADD, but I don't think Ritalin has been either and it is used frequently for adults.
