I am trying to determine if the 5mg tabs are available in the US or is it just in Canada? They still post all the information about them in the November 07 literature, perhaps that is because they sell them only in Canada?

Can pharmacies in the US buy from Canadian distributer, anyone know that?

I was on them for years and then had to switch to the spansules which I really don't like but tolerate.

Recently the Dr. suggested that I try Vyvanse, I took for two days and can tell this is not for me and will go back to the 10mg spansules.

I would love to learn the 5mg tabs were
available!

These are the ones that I take, they are fantastic! I'm surprised these aren't in the states, afterall, I thought the states gets everything and more. We don't even have Desoxyn, Vyvanse or Focalin here...

My formulary shows that the 5mg tabs are available in the US. I am actually going to look into this in more detail and confirm with you. I take the 5mg tabs but usually get them when I go home to Canada. It would be nice to know if I can get them in the US should I need to.

I dont think a US pharm can buy from a Canadian distributer but I will ask about that as well and post as soon as I know.

Move to Vermont there is a town here that is half in VT and half in Canada and you can get them there.

Dextrostat has a 5 mg dose, have you tried that?

I thought it was legal to buy your meds from Canada pharmacies online. It somehow works out that way so that US citizens can save on the cost of medicine. I believe it involves faxing or mailing your prescription to them. I don't know if they will process insurance, but I know that mine has an out of pocket reimbursement form that seems to mention this type of purchase.

I asked some of my pharmacist friends and they didnt know for sure since they are all in Canada but my formulary says you can get the 5mg IR in the US so I would assume it is possible to obtain from some pharmacy.

As for a US pharm getting meds from a canadian distributor I am told that is not possible.

I know if you have a US script you need a cdn doc to sign off on it to get it filled at a cdn pharmacy. I am not sure how the online guys do that but I have heard it works.

NOT controlled highly addictive substances!

So I guess no one knows about if they are available.

What about the "brand name generic" Dextrostat, manufactured by Shire? I know they make/made 5mg and 10mg Dextrostat tabs. I've never received these personally, but I wonder if someone on here has?

I have taken the 5mg orange tabs for YEARS and have found them to be exceptionally good. Last year I had trouble getting them and had to take the white ones which did not do the thing for me. After investigating, including talking to Glaxo Smith, who by the way, no longer makes them, Abbot does and they said no, not going to make them anymore. So, I had to switch to the TR 10mg which are just so so. I was just sick about this! I really liked the plain 5mg ones best of all and they helped me so much. I'm not having the same good results with the others.
If I can get these in Canada, HOW??? I live in Texas.

What is available (in my pharmecy) is the dexedrine generic made by mallinckrodot. I heard that this generic is very close to the brand. they have them in 5mg.

In my pharmecy, I had to ask to special oder them. They did get there in a day.
Hope it helps,
LE

This link to the FDA will answer all your questions regarding what pharmaceutical companies are selling the various medications including Dexedrine. http://www.fda.gov/cder/ob/default.htm

There's a place to type in what medication you are looking for and then a screen showing all the different companies who make the drug. This helpful site is called the little orange book.

Just check in with the orange book- when you go to the site you have to type in the active ingredient, which is dextoamphetamine. The list shows adderall XR and IR first, but if you go all the way to the bottom you will see strictly d-amp. The IR of dexedrine is strictly generic other than dextro-stat; however the spansule XR is still available in brand name (I think it was Smith, Beecham, and ?).
