I know it is never a good idea to combine alcohol with meds. But is it physically dangerous for you to combine Dex and Alcohol?

One of the precautions for dexedrine is to "limit consumption of alcohol". I dont like to drink when I am on it. I have never had more than 2 drinks when I am taking the drug. I wouldnt suggest getting drunk while on any/most medications.

In my experience, it is a BAD idea. You will think that you have a higher tolerance than you do, and end up drinking more than you think you are.

I've had a couple experiences with adderall where I black out. It seems to raise the amount needed to get "buzzed", but doesn't change the point at which you black out.

It is a dangerous combo imo.

Basic rule of thumb is 1 drink/hour max.

Dex masks the effects of alcohol. Dex has a shorter half life so as it wears off faster as well.

The biggest danger is dex makes it possible to overdrink + not feel the full effects as your drinking. Then the dex wears off and you passout (or even die).

I don't mix them. Having one drink was like drinking 3-4 drinks. Dangerous.

I don't find that it masks the alcohol at all. If anything, my normally obscenely high tolerance is lowered a bit.

If I plan on drinking much, I take my last dose early in the afternoon so it's mostly gone by the time I start drinking. Otherwise, I get a little more buzzy and my face tends to flush at first.

I don't drink nearly as much since I started dex a few months ago. The dex and alcohol seem to have much less interaction now than earlier on though. It's not really a big deal for me as long as I remember that I've taken it so I'm extra careful just in case.

When I was on Adderall, drinking was pretty out of the question on days I took it because I got an odd buzz and couldn't gauge my tolerance as well (it lowered so I buzzed faster and harder). The only time I'd drink when I'd taken Adderall was if it was a couple beers at home and that's it. I wouldn't go out or anything because it was too unpredictable.

You people may or may not agree with this. But i would assume if you plan to drink the best course would be to lay off the medication and have your drinks on the weekends or keep it few. I have yet to start my upcoming perscription, but i am a drinker myself, and that is what i plan on doing if i feel the need. Though i am also planning on cutting down the drinking considerably too. I'm hoping that apart from helping with the myriad of ADD issues, the meds will also help remove the want to drink so often, even me out so as not to fill that void with beer. Also, this may not work at all, but not taking the meds on weekends and taking during the week should help your tolerence to them not increase as much. Hope this helps. Anyone with concrete info towards my theory is very welcomed.

^^^ Well, it's not a concrete theory, and I never was much of a drinker, but I find on Dexedrine I simply have no desire to drink alcohol. As you said, no void, much calmer in social situations, just seems like, to me, there's no need for alcohol.

Personally. I have no problem drinking and taking dex and I've been on the medication for four years now. Although I take a pretty small dose 3 x 5mg in the morning and 2 x 5mg at noon, even when I was on a higher doseage, I had no problems. I guess that's just me, I think everyone might be different.
