I am a born again Mom. Here's what I mean, I 've done a lot of thinking and research and have decided to eliminate gluton(wheat) for my sons (8) sake it will help me too. He is very impulsive and oppositional. I think it will make a lot of difference, then perhaps cows milk. I don't drink it myself as I am intolerent in obvious ways, but I let him since he was 5 or so since he didn't seem to have a reaction to it.
The other part to my born againness is I am going to unschool completely. I have done attachment parenting, and a cross between unschooling and homeschooling all along. But after lately having power struggles with my son to the point where I felt the "I'm the Boss" issue arise I lost sight of my truth.
My kid is phycologically brilliant and never ceases to amaze me with his clear thinking during our occassional struggles. He is a well intentioned happy being, a ray of sunshine. I am sooo lucky!
He works well and fair with people and deserves equality around here. I need to show him more faith in his ability to learn naturally at his pace. When we play we actually cover more learning than his stinken school work I shove down his throat. Just a game of darts teaches times tables, monopoly taught him money and play store he counts change, scabble we do too. Well you get the idea I'm on a rampage!
I've ordered some books that I was refered to about communication. One by Marshal Rosenburg. It sounds brilliant.

So all in all if I can help him w/his impulsiveness as he has trouble thinking before doing, mostly just happy stuff like winging swords around without looking. Throwing an object that could hurt someone. This isn't an angry thing he does these thing when joyfull and excited which is very often. I get hit poked stabbed often. He makes catapults and catapults things around. And he is so sorry and says a lot of "didn't mean to"s. and I get to the point where I am trying to force him to stop and think. (doesn't work) Yet he can behave at my rehearsals, concerts for the most part. Anyway if anyone is interested I will let you know my results. He is on a triip with his Dad and I miss him. Won't be home for another week.
I was going to write all this in my journal but I thought perhaps it would make sence to some of you or I could get some interesting feedback.
