Taking Ritalin 10mg LA has not been helping me after the 1st 7 days i was taking it. It improved attention and memory a bit in the 7 days, but afterwards, I just had the same ol add symptoms. Now the thing is, im afraid my doc will stop giving me ADD meds because he considers diagnosis being based on if ritalin is working or not... I want to try Dexadrine and bring up how maybe amphetamines might work for me, but i also fear hes going to reject my beliefs mentioning that im not a doctor, but i really need to convince him to let me try a couple of other meds. I can't go to any other doctor/psychiatrist because my mom is really frustrated with taking me to psychologists and psychiatrist(bad experience with one caused her to hate them) so I really need to find a med that really works for my inattentive ADD symptoms.

My friend let me try approximately 5 pills of adderall xr 25mg for 5 days and it helped a lot; it treated everything, dunno if i felt euphoric(100% optimism, imp memory, interest, more talkative, and mainly feeling superior than most people?)? Is it possible to request samples of stimulants such as samples of dexadrine and samples of adderall to see which one works? FYI, i dont plan on letting him know that i took adderall.

Sorry if its a long screen of text. If Adderall helped me with my inattentive symptoms, therefore should dexededrine work as well(because its an amphetamine)?

Hi .. just one Ritalin LA 10 mg / day is definitely on the low side of the dosage spectrum. My Pdoc started me on 3 x 10mg IR, and I found out that 3 x 15 or even 3 x 20 was optimal. Some people take more than that. Depending on other factors of course, there may be room in the dosage?
You sound as if you are quite anxious about talking to meds to your doc. My first pdoc caused that in me as well because she kept on referring to danger of addiction this and that ("no, I just prescribe Ritalin IR to kids .. it gives adults a buzz") until I was thoroughly fed up with it. I eventually left her and found another one that is a lot better. I really think there has to be a basis of trust between you and your doctor. I think it is absolutely a good idea to try more than one type of ADD med since you never know which one is going to work best for you.

I've tried out ritalin, dexedrine and, now, a sample of adderall xr. So far I think adderall is very similar to dexedrine. Some people report that dexedrine feels smoother than adderall (bc there are also some slightly different amphetamine salts in adderall than just the dextro-amphetamine) .. maybe that is indeed a good description, I've only been on adderall for 3 days now.

I don't think Dexedrine samples exist.

The company is no longer promoting the drug. (It is over 50 years old!)

ohh I just noticed this part

so you mean "samples" as in "a week's supply for free" or as in "a week's supply"?
I did get a free Adderall XR sample .. a sort of gift coupon  that goes with the doc's prescription but that's because they are marketing it I suppose. Like QueensU_girl, I don't think dexedrine itself is still being promoted ..

It definitely is not available for free samples, and probably hasn't been since the 60's. I can't even find a pharmacy around here who carries the dang stuff :(
