Just wondering. Here is the story that made me think of it.

I was replacing the transmission in my car and had the front tires up on ramps. No blocks on the back tires. Anyway I had to adjust the linkage on the transmission and took the thing out of gear. You can't beat physics. The car rolled back off the ramps and landed on my ribs. Luckily I was able to get out from underneath of the car. Long story short--broken ribs.

Anyone else?

YES YES AND MORE YES'S lol

I am a certified card carrying klutz. I have run into walls or glass doors resulting in bumps, bruises and a couple stitches.

I have burned myself multiple times cooking,,,I had the oven mits but set them down to open the oven. lol Hubby posted a sign on the oven CAUTION CONTENTS ARE HOT OPEN DOOR WITH MITS ON stupid I know but haven't burned myself since.

The worst I would say was a couple years back. Once again late for work I went speeding down our mile long driveway at over 60 miles an hour (man I loved that car)...The anxiety over being late I had forgotten to fasten my seat belt. But, not realizing I was at the end of the driveway I smacked into the ditch across the road. Resulting in bruise's shaped like a steering wheel, bruised organs and broken ribs, concussion and migraine's since. Needless to say I have honestly not been late for work since. lol so lesson learned and how I survived I have no clue, but hubby say's it has a lot to do with my hard head *wink wink

I am always walking into things... doors, open cupboards, low ceilings... never had a serious injury from it yet other than a sprained ankle on some stairs once.

Bicycled into a telephone pole once at full speed.

OMG it is so nice to know I am not alone in this one and I have done those too. lol

I once jumped off of the steps in school and hit my head on a low ceiling. Thing is I would smack that ceiling everyday. I knew it was there.

Once, my exhaust was hanging under the car. It had rusted and was scraping on the ground. I stopped and figured I had the perfect solution---grab it with my hands and try to rip it off. Needless to say, that didn't end up pretty.

Just remembered that one.

lol We used to live in the mountains right above a busy highway. Well, one snow storm we decided to sled from the front door to the edge of our property. Property line is a 15 ft drop to the road below. So, I and my sister hop on our little red sled and go flying down the yard,,,never once realizing this is going to hurt. Anyway's mirracously cars missed us and no broken bones,,,while my mother is patching my sister and I up she notes the boy's are about to try the same exact thing. NEVER have more children then you have hands. lol

Heh, ever start running down a hill and realize part way down that you can't stop accelerating, but at the same time your feet won't run any faster...?

I also am a part of this group. I have walked into telephone poles. I also ran into a tree playing football. I also dove over the hedge into the street to catch the football. I caught the ball, but I did not play again that day. The street has pavement mixed with stone. No serious injuries. I have broken both shoulders falling off of bicycles. Also many incounters with road rash. I have been hit by a car and a aromored truck. No injuries beleive it or not. No wonder my wife is nervous about me riding it,

this type of stuff is exactly why I don't really want to ride a motorcycle.

Mine is a bicycle, but I would imagine motorcycle would be more dangerous.

Nucking_Futs
02-27-04, 12:14 AM
lol I think any vehicle could be dangerous in the right hands---namely MINE lol...I flipped my daddy's riding lawn mower because I was daydreaming and did not realize I was riding the edge of the ditch. Needed 16 stitches for that one. lol

The first week I got my drivers license..I was not paying attention to the truck coming on side of me....I paniced and did make a full turn and ran the car into a tree, I needed stiches in my right knee and my other knee had a small hole in it...and no like a shuck I forgot to put on seat belt...have never forgiven myself for that...it was my mom's only car...although mom said she could always replace a car she can not replace a daugter...it was sweet..but I still feel so dumb...ok sorry..venting!

The really good thing about it is when I went to the hospital they asked me if I was allergic to anything and I told them that demerol makes me turn red and that the last time I had a kidney stone they gave me morphine.

They gave me morphine again and when I woke up and pushed the buzzer for another hit they said I could only have it every 4 hours and that I have to wait another 12 minuets.

That was a lng 12 minutes waiting for the clock to tick by .

12 minutes to the second I was on the buzzer again and in they came and fixed me right up.

Grin I like morphine I think , I really cant remeber ---- Grin

the next time I woke up I heard voices in my room and opened my eyes to see my wife and her friend from high school who had come down with my wife to visit me.

I have known my wifes friend for 5 years and she is a very attactive girl, but I have never even looked twice at her.

When she came to visit me this time with my wife she was wearing a very tight dress and I couldnt believe my eyes.

Five years I have known her and she has always worn loose fitting sweaters and jogging clothes and in all that time I had had no idea how well proportioned she was.

Well when I opened my eyes she was the first one I saw of the 2 of them and you can well imagine my surprise.

I can honestly say that is one awakening I will never forget

Grin

I couldn't even tell you how many times I've injured myself! Once put a car in the ditch for reasons only the ADD would understand, ran the same car into the median (hey, I was distracted!), etc, etc. In my defense, I'm a much better driver now. I knew I would be, if I lived long enough... :D

If my parents had known about ADD when I was a child, they might have had me tested the first time I ran into the side of a moving car at 6 years old. I was fine, but the driver was a teenage boy, and he nearly had a heart attack.

These days, I do less spectacular things, like tripping over toys. I didn't even realize until I started writing this post that I'm even getting fewer burns and cuts while cooking. Yay, meds! ;)

Nucking_Futs
02-27-04, 10:25 AM
lol perhaps that is my answer---MEDS lol

On the subject of morphine when I had my last baby c-section they put me on morphine pump and I in my "altered" state did not realize I was pushing the button for the pump and NOT the call button for the nurse. Finally, a nurse comes in all p.o.d and says you can't have any more....I'm like anymore what lady I've been calling for an hour I gotta gooooooooo to the bathroom. Needless to say everyone died laughing at me and we won't mention the dead ppl I talked to lmao.

I've never been to the hospital but...

I almost got hit by a bus crossing the street (between classes - wasnt' paying attention...)

I'm a welder for a student project team, and I have TONS of burns from THAT... lol
the worst was last year I had the chassis titled up on it's side and I was standing inside of it to get at a tough to reach spot - well I accidentally stepped backwards when I was done and knocked the whole thing over, and since i was in the middle of it, I fell RIGHT on top of the hot steel I'd just welded.... I almost screamed when I looked at my arm - the scar is still there, and its' 4" long! lol

I've run several red lights just becuase I wasn't watching, or the light fixture was in a weird spot, or somthing - I've interpreted some flashing reds as flashing yellows... etc - a lot of close calls but no accidents YET (i'm only 21 though.... so I'm just KNOW one will happen soon)

Always banging my head into cupboards - I've walked into trees and fell down stairs before just becuase I wasnt' looking.

I'm sure there's more i just can't think of them...

Christiana
02-27-04, 05:25 PM
btw, MP3's are great because you can fit like 300 songs onto ONE CD, and you can put them in folders by artist or type, or whatever you want!!

I love it becuase I ALWAYS get bored of a certain type of music a few songs. (either that or I fall in love with one song and play it over and over)

SO then you can take your techno, rock, pop, country, classical, classic rock, 80's stuff, etc all at the same time and not have a billion CD's to carry around.

When I was 14 I got hit by a car on the way to school but that was because I was listening to my walkman and crossed the street without looking just as a lady was turning the corner and also not looking. A few years ago I was walking into my dining room and somehow kicked the wall and broke my toe. I wasn't watching where I was going or something.

OT... how do you fit 300 mp3's onto a disk? I can only get the standard 700mb/80 min which is like 10-14 songs!

waywardclam

MP3s are not playable by normal CD players. But yes, you can get between 2 and 3 hundred of them onto a CD if the player you want to play it on will play MP3s.

Were do you find one that will play MP3s? I need one of those. and Christina I have a theory on light's RED means stop
Green means go
Yellow means go very fast

I remember playing "smear the queer" A game where everyone chases, attacks whoever has the ball, you of course can get rid of it quickly to avoid being smeared. I was a fasst runner and remember running full spead away from a pack od neighborhood kids in our front yard. I was running like the wind, suddenly I was flying like the wind~~~I had taken a trip right over the for sale sign at the edge of our yard smack into the road face first. My teeth for the third time went through my upper lip. My mom was an expert at lip from teeth removal.

I used to play a lot of murderball... that is, kind of the reverse, whoever has the ball gets to try and nail any other kid with it at high speed in as tender a part of his/her anatomy as they can successfully aim for...

As for a CD player that plays MP3s... we just picked up a cheap one at Zellers for $60 Cdn. I am sure any Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, or comparable store would have them.

Now that we've covered inattentiveness, let's do impulsivity...

In high school chemistry we were bending glass tubing. and my lab partner was showing me the perfect 90 degree bend he'd just made, so naturally I picked it up to get a better look...

The blister was the deepest I've ever seen, and took weeks to heal.

OK I got one: While helping my husband work on my car (another word's I sat there cheering "You can fix it,,,you can,,,you can) he warned me not to touch the muffler because it was hot. Well, I'm willing to wager ya'll know the end result. *blushes*

Going down the road on a snowy day. Figured it would be good to turn the wheel back and forth and try to swing the rear of the car as I go down the road--ended up in a ditch.

88ssp
02-28-04, 08:24 PM
Another one, figured it would be fun to lie down on a skateboard and go under a 4x4 truck. Hit the rear end and now I have a horseshoe scar on my head that took 32 stitches to close.

I just tell everyone that my neighborhood was tough----when we played cowboys and indians, we took it a little too far. LOL

SubtleMuttle
02-28-04, 09:14 PM
ow! Hmm, my dad has a wierd scar that he told me was from cowboys and indians..... now I wonder :D

I was riding my bike when I was little, I had just gotten a new bike with handle brakes and I was used to the pedal brakes. Went flying down a hill and freaked out when pedaling backwards wouldn't slow me down (I forgot about the new brakes). Luckily I fliped over into a grassy lawn and was only scraped from the bike and bruised from the landing. I didn't ride my bike for a while after that.

Something I do all the time that really hurts: bump my head in the top of a car doorframe trying to get out of or into a car. Any car. Don't know how I keep on misjudging the space there.

Ok all this happened tonight...NOt my best day but I'm sick so concession's have to be made.

1. Hubby told me watch out for the gum,,,so I stepped in it
2. Lost babies binki at Applebi's do not wanting to eat yet another cold meal I took off in a dead run to Walmart across the street only to find the babies binki in my pocket.
3. Put the chair down at the movie theater and set my pop on it only to have it snap back up when I moved my hand.
4. Shut my purse in the door--didn't figure out why everyone was pointing until we got home...Luckily it was still there.
5. Knocked Lexi over with my big butt--Now my children know it sticks out about 5 inches more than I'll admit and why they stand so close to me I'll never know.
6. Kissed Koda good night--not the smartest thing I have ever done considering the fact that I am being treated for strep throat.

Good news though...Tomorrow is a whole new day. *Big grin*

oh yeha - when you burn an MP3 CD the music is in the "data" form rather than "song" form (for example, in my burning software, you have to choose to make a data CD, a music CD, or to copy a CD - so for MP3's you would choose Data...)

yeha it's really cool :)
