View Full Version : confused about Adderall effects

I've been on Adderall XR for about a week now, and I'm still trying to decide if its helping me, as well as trying to confirm that I even have ADD. Here's whats confusing me:

-Adderall makes me kind of jittery (comes and goes) like a Starbucks coffee would (except it last all day). They say that if someone w/o ADD took Adderall, they would get "wired."

-Supposedly the jitters will go away, but would they also go away for those non-ADD people mentioned above?

-Yes, I seem to get more done on it, but wouldn't everyone? Its like speed, isn't it? I've read many people actually get calmed by it, which allows them to focus better. Is this typically an immediate result, or after you've become used to it?

To top all this off, I was up to 30mg the other day and my blood pressure was about 120/100, where it is normally about 108/64.
Does anyone know if the heart rate/BP effects tend to settle down?

I know thats a lot of questions for one post, but any replies would be greatly appreciated!!

Fireman,
I am on Adderall XR too. It has a different effect on me. I do not feel jittery and seem to be able to focus much better. I started with Strattera and it made me jittery and I just felt weird. I also had some plumbing problems on that. I have heard that 1 of the side effects of Adderall could be to raise the blood pressure. Remember that what med works for my ADD may not work may not work for you. You may have to go through a couple before you find the right one. the best advice I can give you is to ask your Dr. especially about the blood pressure. Good luck.

unfortunately, I tried Straterra first (plumbing problems, too!), Provigil second, Concerta, and now Adderall XR.

Sorry I do not have the answer. I wish I did. Keep posting and let us know what you end up doing. Best of luck.

It made me lose my appetite, sleep less, irritable, feel speedy.

I hated it.. I had to switch off of it, it drove me nuts. I was only on it for like a month and a half though.
