I just started an awesome new job in which I get use my brain and utilize my talents. I am doing exceptionally well and praying I can keep it up. It has been a huge boost to my self esteem.

I am usually all mean and bitter and yappy but I am bragging now because I am kicking ***!!!!

I am proud and wanted to tell you all.

my job is awesome and my quick pace and socialness (is that a word?) are finally being rewarded. i overall am feeling less crazy. routine is good.

by the way, i am the person you call before you dig. i get to talk to people all day and find things (sometimes obscure) on maps all over the region. i have always collected maps and am taking to this quite well. am happy i am not selling things anymore and i am getting rewarded for just being nice and there are no quotas. i also get to use my brain and problem solving skills.

on another note, the insane stimulation and excitement of being successful at the new job is starting to wear off. i am still digging th job, but i am noticing that the evil carelessness of add is creeping back into my work and my constantly happy mood is no longer quite as constant.

does anyone else ever get this way after the thrill of something starts to wear off?

Yes, yes, yes. I also view it as directly correlated with my mood state. I haven't lasted in an office job with a boss for more than 6 months, ever. I also tend to get paranoid and think that my boss and coworkers are plotting against me.

I'm self-employed as a dogwalker now and it works for me; however, I do go through overwhelm, burnout periods and feel that I can not possibly manage to walk all the dogs for even one more day. When I'm feeling unmotivated and uninspired, I tend to run late, lose keys, do everything inefficiently and in the wrong order, procrastinate like heck, etc.

My only suggestion is to try to focus on the creative, interesting parts of the job. Maybe think of ways to do an even better job, be more efficient, create a new system for what you do. If you stay intrigued and intellectually stimulated, you won't end up feeling trapped, stifled and bored. Of course, if you end up cycling into a depressed mood, this can make the above suggestion nigh impossible. Hang in there! I would guess that this is a pretty common phenomenon with other ADD/bipolars out there. I'm sure lots of people besides myself can relate to what you're experiencing.
