View Full Version : what stimulants are presb'ed in Australia? scuz 02-24-08, 01:22 AM Hi, Am wondering what stimulants are prescribed in Australia for add/adhd, innatentive type, are there short & long doses? thanks heaps! Leah. Ulukabulu 02-24-08, 02:42 AM Ritalin is one, and yes Long-Acting Ritalin is available here as well as the short-acting kind. I have inattentive ADD and I'm on the LA. que? 02-24-08, 03:38 AM Im on Dexedrine. 4x 5mg tabs a day, they're fairly short acting, 3-4 hours. ozchris 02-24-08, 09:02 PM Dexamphetamine is prescribed for ADD and is probably the most commonly used stimulant for adults. Ritalin is also used and has a long acting version (Ritalin LA). There's also another long acting Ritalin called Concerta. I currently take two 5mg Dex. tablets twice a day. I'm inattentive and it works well for me. Fuse 02-24-08, 10:36 PM Well, I just got back from my first ADHD appointment in like 3 years. I'm starting on Dexamphetamine Sulphate again. It's the same as Dexedrine, but seems to be available under this name in Australia. I'm on 2 x 5mg tablets to start off with. The chemical name is dextro-amphetamine if you're interested. scuz 02-25-08, 04:34 AM thanks for your imput, i have been in duromine for the last 6 months from a gp, my new gp has been in contact with an add specialist in brisbane whom has said to keep the duromine intake up until he is able to see me in 2 weeks, as usually it takes 6 weeks to see him. had 4 days off the stimulant while gp liased with specialist, and went down like a sack of potatoes. Thanks again for your imput. Cheers, Leah. |
