Hi everyone,
I am new here and i have a son who is 9yo and has adhd.. he was diagnosed prior to starting 1st grade and we have been on a roller coaster of meds and therapy since. he pretty much maxed out on concerta last year and was switched to Adderall xr 20mg. that was the begining of what is now a concern for my husband and i. his behavior has done nothing but degrade on this med since day one and his school called today with the news that the special ed supervisor for our district wants a IEP meeting to stratagise a plan for my son's "issues". i got the heads up that she is going to recomend he go back into the behavior disorder catagory and most likely she will say he should go back to the self contained class room he graduated from Over a year ago. i just dont' know what to do. i called the psyc office to see abt having him switched back to concerta and nobody called me back yet. His psyc is away on vacation.... im not sure what med he should be on now and my husband only wants him on ONE med. they tried a couple mood stabalisers that just made him a zombie and not his funny smart self.. do any of you have a recomendation for med that has worked for you?
i hope he can go back on concerta because i know it worked till he maxed out on it. HELP please! Im desperate for a real perspective from people who have dealt with this. Thanks!!

Personally, I would think that if you had to max the dosage of Concerta, it wasn't really working.

We went through the same thing. Started with Concerta, worked great for a while, then pittered off. After getting to the max dose, we went to Adderall, that never really worked, then to Daytrana which was useless for us. Now he's on Strattera and Tenex.

If the Adderall isn't working, I suggest you talk to his psyc about something else. And you need to remember, what works for one person might not work so well for others.

*hugs*
