I would like to say those of you who are apprehensive about taking medication for ADD or other co-morbid mental issues, please seek a doctor. You do not need to suffer endlessly if there is a way to help treat your symptoms. I just recently got treated for my chronic depression and anxiety and I'm so much better for doing so. Even some of my negative ADD traits are a bit under control. Nothing feels better than having good mental health and being able to handle daily living with a smile and energy.

I just want to thank you for your statement. I made my daughter wait until she was 10 to get her help. By the time i finally realised i couldnt change what was happening in her brain with love..she had ADD,ODD,anxiety and depression..She is now on Lexapro and Concerta is so happy. She says she felt like she was inside her but couldnt get out and the meds help her to get out. My regret is not having started her earlier!!!!!!!!!!!! She was a butterfly stuck in a cocoon and needed help getting out. I have known since she was little that she had inattentive add and anxiety..But i was always told it was just my parenting...so i waited and she suffered silently and my family suffered.I kept her from experiencing true life...She can focus now..she is organized..she can get through a page of math so easily...but above all that she has been set free....life isnt such a challenge for her anymore...our days are filled with happiness and conversations...not yelling because she forget what i told her to do, or anger because she is frustrated . Her o.d.d symptoms have even improved...I cant beleive I used to be against medicating...now i feel guilty about my ignorance of the medication and that i didnt hear her cry sooner and get her the help she needed. When i read what you wrote..i can picture my daughter writing that...Thanks..
Thanks again from the mother a freed butterfly
I'm glad you feel better. You only live once as they say, so I'm glad you found a treatment that works for you!
