I HATE health care in this country!!!! Insurance companies-what a scam. Have you seen the documentary, "SICKO"?
Anyhoo, I 've been on adderall for awhile. It didn't help a whole lot but then they put me on welbutrin for depression and the wellbutrin seems to have kick started the Adderall. It took a month and a half but now I'm noticing a difference.
Sometimes you might need a combo of things. But it sux that the Vyvanse was working for you but now it's not covered. Hope you can find a way to get what you need!

Hi pbgarcia,

I wasn't sure if I should move this thread to Adderall or Vyvanse - so moved it to Adderall - because I think you may get more responses in that thread, and the topic is much more suited in that forum. I don't have an answer for you, as I haven't been on either of those meds. Have you talked with your insurance company? I wish you luck.

Well I don't have insurance now.... but back when I did, my insurance company decided they didn't want to cover Adderall XR. My doctor had to fax in some kind of "questionnaire" about me, my diagnosis and/or the medication I needed. (I have NO CLUE what the "questionnaire" or fax-paper said. I just know that there was something he had to fill out.) At any rate, once he faxed that in to my insurance company, they went right back to covering the Adderall XR.

My advice would be to contact your DOCTOR and/or his office staff. They are normally very, very good at dealing with the insurance companies. I would think they would be of some great assistance to you. It's definitely worth a shot.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out. :)

As for your question about the Adderall.... I had great success on the 10mg tabs. I took one tablet 3x daily. They were manufactured by Ranbaxy (a company the produces "generic" drugs). The tablets were blue.

Right now I'm taking one 15mg tab, twice daily and I don't particularly care for it. I did better on 10mg, 3 times daily. Though, part of it may be the generic manufacturer. (Right now I have BARR.)

There are COUNTLESS debates on these forums, discussing the pros and cons of the different generic manufacturers. Just remember that everyone reacts differently.

My advice would be to give the Adderall a chance. But meanwhile, read my above post and contact your doctor's office regarding your insurance coverage.

Good luck! :)

My understanding is that Vyvanse is just an extended release formulation of dexedrine. So, obviously, you could try dexedrine and hopefully it would help you the same despite the need for a few doses throughout the day.

Dexedrine 3 times per day should be very similar to vyvansee.

The conversion from vyvansee to dexedrine is kidna confusing 50mg of vyvanse per day = 20mg per day of dexedrine.
