Hey ppl, I was just daignosed and prescribed 36mg Concerta a week ago. It seems to wear off around 4-5 hours sometimes a little earlier. When its working its great, i don't have a big boost of energy (which is what i want and why i opted for the concerta instead of ritalin) but im able to focus, quiet down my head and actually have consistent mood and thoughts.

Is there anyone out there that takes 2 a day?

I was thinking of asking my doc for a second lower dose to take in the early afternoon, a few hours after the first dose.

Is there anyone thats heard of Concerta wearing off that early?

I take 54mg and 15mg Ritalin booster in the late aft. For me, the concerta lasts about 8-9 hours. While you will probably feel a little boost within the first hour (that can last a few hours) that is the first 22% being released immediately. The rest of the pill is released slowly over time so you will not "feel" it as you do when you first take it.

For me, I know when it's wearing off because I begin to lose attention, I feel super hyper when trying to lay down, I get furious over the simple things...then I take my 15mg around 4-5pm. As my morning dose of Concerta is around 6-7 am.

However, you should always talk to your doctor as each and everyone of us has a different metabolism rate.

does the ritalin give you a boost at that dosage or just relieve those symptons and keep you consistent?

nothing really to do with metabolism, more or less to do with how severe and persistant the symptoms are.
from what i was told.
i have an okay metabolism, and it usually wears off in the evening time, about 5-6pmish. i take it at 7:30amish.
sometimes though, my adhd is just so out of control that the medication doesnt work as much as it could. ill still be really restless/impulsive/angry/short tempered/losing my concentration/speaking SO very fast lol
but yeah. the medication does help most of the time. im sure we all have our days where nothing can really help and you just have to well, 'ride it out' and see what happens. the medication does relieve me of many symptoms, but some are still there.
usually by the time its worn off, i get a real bad mood swing. i get bad mood swings alot lately.
ill snap at anyone.
ill cry randomly.
ill feel super tired yet not be able to sleep.
im starting 27mg tommorow because the 36mg is way too high says my doc, i agree lol.
