I just started on Adderall on Wednesday, and my neck is really stiff. I've done a few searches and found out that this is a common side effect, but some people have said that it eventually goes away. Anybody know about how long it takes before the neck stiffness subsides? I'm taking a low dose--5 mg 3x/day.

I started taking about three weeks ago and noticed the same thing. . . .It definitely got better after about a week on adderall.

Is your neck stiff or just sore? Mine was more sore, but I wrote it up to increased activity on my part. I used to get so overwhelmed by everthing that I would sit down and do nothing most days - now I find myself getting SOOOO much done and working more around the house (I'm a stay-at-home mom). I have a feeling that this new activity - and ability to sit and focus on things for a long time without moving my neck/shoulders - may have contributed to my "muscle fatigue" during the first week. Ponder that for a while and see if you think it could be the cause of your neck problems. If so, give it a few more days to see if you feel better. You can also try the "normal" stiff/sore neck stuff - warm showers, heated wraps, massage, etc. - to get you through the first few days.

If it is stiff or really painful, I'd call the doc.
