Does Vitamin C only effect the efficacy of the XR meds or should I avoid it with the Adderall IR 20mg twice daily I just started? Kinda sucks not being able to drink juices, as I normally drink a lot of it!

Kinda sucks not being able to drink juices, as I normally drink a lot of it! scarvalho 03-09-08, 08:35 PM I think its the acidity in orange juice that breaks down the adderall faster and therefore it is released quicker into your system and makes it stronger, but lasting less time. The D 03-09-08, 09:46 PM Even the IR Version? samm 03-09-08, 11:10 PM I think its the acidity in orange juice that breaks down the adderall faster and therefore it is released quicker into your system and makes it stronger, but lasting less time. yeah i agree, i think its the acidity in the orange that disolves the chemicals quicker and not really the vitamin c. and yea even in the IR, but especially in the XR. the more acid in your stomach the quicker the medication is gonna be broken down and absorved by your system :) meadd823 03-10-08, 06:50 AM drug.com- Adderall (http://www.drugs.com/mtm/adderall.html) Avoid drinking fruit juices or taking vitamin C at the same time you take amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. These can make your body absorb less of the medicine. {End Quote} Momness 03-10-08, 08:00 AM Hey - how about coffee? Is the acidity of coffee likely to affect the Adderall as well. . . ..I just downed my XR with a big cup of coffee (and do this every morning) scarvalho 03-10-08, 08:26 AM Hey - how about coffee? Is the acidity of coffee likely to affect the Adderall as well. . . ..I just downed my XR with a big cup of coffee (and do this every morning) I'm no doctor and correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't think the acidity in coffee is sufficient to break down the chemical bonds in adderall as effecitively as the acidity of orange juice, however, it is highly NOT recomended to drink coffee and take adderall at the same time or close to the same time since they are both stimulants and it might have a negative effect on the body, such as a harder crash later on and feeling too alert and "over-focused". Caffine may not cause adderall to be released quicker but it is definitly a stimulant and will also cause your blood preasure to rise similar to like how it does from adderall, so if you have high blood preasure, you may want to very careful when you mix stimulants. :) Momness 03-10-08, 09:01 AM I guess you are right about mixing the adderall with the caffeine, but I love my morning coffee. Perhaps I can try to switch to half-caff. . . . (boy would my hubby be mad, though). :p RainyZ 03-10-08, 10:56 AM Isn't the stomach more acidic than orange juice or coffee???? I was under the impression that it was the urine PH, not the stomach PH that was the concern with drinks and food.... This issue is really confusing to me. Mincan 03-10-08, 12:15 PM It is the urine pH sarsXdave 03-10-08, 01:43 PM I guess you are right about mixing the adderall with the caffeine, but I love my morning coffee. Perhaps I can try to switch to half-caff. . . . (boy would my hubby be mad, though). :p Go for it. Having a pleasant ritual that allows you to want to get up is almost as effective as the caffeine itself. You might find that half-caff is still too much, being as strong as full-caff black tea. A trick I learned for tea, is taking advantage of the greater solubility of caffeine in water than the other alkaloids and particles in the leaf. Most of the caffeine in a tea bag is dissolved into your cup after 15 seconds, so you can throw this water out and keep steeping the bag in some fresh water for pretty good flavor without the jitters. I think something similar might work for coffee. Maybe use less grounds and have your husband run his 1 or 2 cups through, and use his leftover grounds for your cups? Oh, and don't worry about coffee and acidity, I think it's actually alkaline, hence the bitter taste. |
