My friend (Christina) also takes adderall and she wanted to know. She takes 20mgs of adderall xr, but she also has some 5mg's and 10mg's from previous perscrition and she takes her 20 and decided to also take a 10 mg what would happen to her? would that be considered okay to do ?

Well if she *only* took one 10mg and two 5mg caps (to equal 20mg), then that could essentially "replace" her daily 20mg XR dose.... since it's the same thing.

However, I don't think it's wise to take more than what the doctor has prescribed.

So be less ambiguous, if she takes 10mg WITH her 20mg? Or if she takes 10mg AFTER the 20mg wears off?

I would say - NEVER increase your prescribed dose. There are reasons that the dose is as it is - whatever the reason is.

So - again ... talk to the doc :)

Seriously, if one is going to screw around with their meds, what good does it do to ask us first, if they want to do it, they are gonna do it regardless of what anyone here tells them. They are simply looking for affirmation or justification or something.

I realise people know what is best for them (as far as dosages working or whatever), however, this forum has certain rules plus there is a protocol for these sorts of things in our civilisation unfortunately and we have to work with it to get the best results for ourselves.

I wasn't quite sure of the question really... that's why I answered the way I did.

Back when I was on Adderall XR, my doc said that two 15mg caps taken at once, is the same as taking one 30mg cap at once.

When I was taking 20 mg. IR 2X daily and it did not work anymore, I asked my dr. if I could try 30 mg. as I felt that would probably work. He said yes and prescribed me more adderall. As others have said, your friend should talk to her doctor about increasing her dose rather than trying it on her own.
