My wife was taking 5mg ER Adderall for a few weeks but quit because she said it made her feel too "speeded up" and she didn't see any real benefit.
I have read ( can't remember where) that sometimes a higher dose will get rid of adverse symptoms that occur during lower doses. Anybody experience that?
Also, has anyone who has felt jittery or speeded up on a low dose of Adderall tried Dex or Ritilin and had good results?
Thanks
John

well John its hard to say because each person reacts differently to each medication. I think your refering to Adderall XR (eXtended Release) and 5mg really is a very very low dosage. When I first took 10mgs I didn't really notice anything expect a speedier pace, but once I got moved up to 30mgs I really noticed the increased focus.
So in my opinion you wife should try a higher dosage being that 5mg is much too low to notice any improvement; and as for the side effects, they usually disappear once your body gets used to the medication -- which usually takes about a week on a constant dosage.
So have her talk to her doctor and get a higher dosage, or maybe Adderall just isn't for her. Finding the right medication for each person takes time and patience.
Hope this helps. :)

im on 50mg of adderall and i take 5mg of dexadrine when i need that extra boost and im fine i like adderall
yep, I noticed that a little when I first started, when my doc and I were finding the correct dosage, I found that a low dose did somewhat make me feel kinda amp'd up and all over the place, like a kid in a candy store (..while eating a lot of candy.)
I took it initially rather negatively, being quite reluctant to use medications to begin with I figured that the medication was not going to work for me, but after talking with my doc and increasing the dosage the effect went away. one thing to keep in mind though, caffeine will make some people very wired while taking amphetamines (the pharmacy print-outs they give with the prescription do mention to minimize caffeine intake.) I can barely drink any at all now, one full cup of coffee and I am extremely jittery, does your wife drink sodas or coffee? some people are more sensitive than others though, just my 2 cents.
