I've scheduled a free conference for all of us to be able to anonymously talk about ADD on a 5+ way call (the service we're using allows up to 150 users on a channel at a time).
Date: Thursday Night aka tomorrow (3/13/08)
Time: 9 PM Eastern / 6 PM Pacific
Phone Number: 1-712-580-1100
Participant Access Code: 451574
Your information as well as your phone number is kept anonymous.
Can anyone confirm that they will join us then?

Anyone? Why isn't anyone responding? Do you like this idea or no?

It's a great idea! I'm a mom with two kids and a husband and the call is around our dinner time, so I'm not sure if I can make it.
ADDers need a little extra time to process these things and lots of reminders (example -- a teleclass I taught had 180 people sign up and 65 showed up and that was with lots of e-mail reminders and about a month's promotion). People may just need a little more head's up time to prepare for this kind of call.
Thanks for thinking of and taking action on this.

I appreciate the initiative :) .. but I've heard from a lot of ADD ppl that they really dislike using the phone. It's maybe due to the difficulty with auditory processing that a lot of us have. I avoid it as much as possible.
It's even more profound on a conference call .. sometimes I have to listen in for my job but it totally goes over my head. I cant make out the individual voices, let alone follow them.
Maybe that's a reason ppl weren't too eager?

agreed. i absolultey hate the telephone. i wish i didn't have a cell phone. i hate being disrupted by a call when i am out and i have a strange phobia of checking my voicemail.

You did not leave this thread up for very long before giving up.
Holy impatient.

I second Luthien.
Personally, I have a hard enough time contributing to and benefiting from group conversations in the physical! I need to see facial expressions and body laungage to help in deciphering what is being said. My auditory processing goes into overload and everyone could be speaking Cantonese for all I know.
Also, many of us aren't on the forums on a daily basis so it would help to have more notice in order to commit to these things!
Really, thanks for taking the time to set this up. Sorry this forum just isn't the right venue-I can only imagine the auditory CHAOS!;)
