Hello. Adderall is amazing. I have the drive i need to live my life the way i want to! But its sooo hard on my body. My blood pressure skyrockets. I can feel my heart POUNDING. My leg wont stop bouncing and i cant go to sleep even if i take only 10mg in the morning. Plus after the effects wear off i crash heavily and just want to sleep. BUT I CANT!! because my heart is going a million miles an hour.

And when i don't take it im a vegetable. Lazy, day dreaming, just want to lay and stare off into space...

Anyone have any suggestions? New meds. I need something that will help me focus, mildly stimulate me to get off my butt, and improve short term memory.

I liked the hyper focus of adderall but that impacted my social relationships and i didn't pay any attention to anyone. So perhaps something that allows me to function properly socially.

Thanks. I just really don't want to be a vegetable anymore :(

I'm wondering if your dose is too high. Some increase in blood pressure is normal, but your heart shouldn't be pounding like that. I'd definately encourage you to talk to a doctor -- you don't want to endanger your health. I'm a bit unusual:rolleyes:, but I do fine on just 5 mg of Adderall XR (sometimes with a small chase in the afternoon of IR). What is your caffeine, supplements, and energy drink consumption like? The only time I had the reaction your describing was on a supplement that had (unknown to me) a stimulent I'd never even heard of in it.

How long have you been taking it?

When I first started taking it, I had similar effects (I don't know about the blood pressure going up because I don't think I ever tested my blood pressure level when I was on it) like the heart pounding and restlessness and body aches.

Now that I've been taking it on and off for about a year, I don't get the heart pounding anymore which I think was my anxiety level adjusting to the adderall, since adderall can increase anxiety and the restlessness and body aches are much less since my body is used to the medication. But I definitely have weird social effects from it since I feel like a weirder version of myself on it.

Try exercise, good diet, plenty of sleep each night, and meditation. I almost guarantee you that if you pursue these four therapies without drugs sincerely then many of your problems will improve. After that, try Strattera or something to help with focus.

But stimulants aren't a long term answer to fatigue. They also aren't a long-term answer to social problems. They cause dependence, and finally when you want off them, they cause problems.

Again, try regular (like, daily) exercise, plenty of sleep, good diet, and meditation. It will take a lot of work, but nothing that's good comes easy.

Wow, you really need to get off that stuff.

I take 60mg (30 2x a day) and don't get nearly the sort of physical symptoms that you do.

Even if i only take 5mg a day, by the end of the night my heart is still goin nuts. And the fatigue thing comes from the adderall. I've been off it now for 5 days and my energy level is up. My hearts fine. But my mind is all over the place. I feel like the restraints on my brain have been lifted and now i cant focus on anything >.<

i will excercise and i do eat a decent diet regularly. meditation - when i have time i already do. sleep i get plenty of.

so i want to try a medication that helps with focus but is a non-stimulant. and no crazy emotional effects either. just focus and perhaps make me less of an outcast/odd ball because of strange social behavior. adderall seemed to help with that.

Get Dextroamphetamine or Focalin. Levoamphetamine is making your heart pound.

What he said.

D-Amphetamine by itself (Vyvanse, Dexedrine Spansule)

less effect on the peripheral nervous system and less NE issues.

as for the emotional blunting, verbal restraint and other social issues.
well thats IMHO one of the primary caveats of First-Line stimulants.
Can't get something for nothing these days.
and actually that's part of the treatment of ADHD. (Controlling impulsivity)
but being a little impulsive is usually necessary to be outgoing and social.

Maybe Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
