Right now I'm prescribed Dexedrine IR 5mg 3x/day and it's somewhat effective for my ADHD-PI, but I think I probably need a dose increase as it doesn't seem to last as long as it should. Even while it is working, though, I still have considerable anxiety(general and social) so I'm thinking about asking my Pdoc if I can add a long-acting benzo such as Klonopin to the regimen. I've tried a couple SSRIs in the past(Prozac and Paxil) to see if they would help with anxiety to no avail.

Is there anyone here who is using a stimulant/benzo regimen for ADHD and anxiety?

The following is what I came across through reading and also what I have tried (because I also suffer from GAD, too). Please do some research and talk to your doctor before trying anything.

Inositol helps lower the activation of NE (norepinephrine) which is responsible for the anxiety. It is known to have an SSRI effect.

It is essential to use compounds that reinforce NMDA and AMPA receptors such as 'racetams, Taurine, and Theanine. I have even found that Green Tea (probably because of the Theanine) can help lower or even rid any anxiety I am experiencing with the Adderall.Even 5HTP has helped as well.

Again, please look into this matter more deeply. If you look you can find a direct relation of anxiety and GABA (neurotransmitter). I hope this helps.

I agree with the racetam part. Piracetam works wonders for verbal fluency.

-Anti-anxiety drugs (benzos) can make Inattention (short term memory) worsen.

Hard, regular Exercise improves both conditions [w/ no side effects].

Hello. I have bad social phobia, ADHD, and some OCD. I take 1 mg klonopin with 50 mg vyvanse when I wake up, and then 6 hours later I take 1 mg klonopin and 50 mg vyvanse. It provides all day relief from social anxiety, and helps with my ADHD. But, I think I would like to lower my dosage of klonopin to .5 mg 2 times per day because of sexual side-effects, and some lack of motivation. But, yeh, benzo + stim combos DO work. Klonopin would be the best benzo to take: usually twice per day. And then your choice of stim.
