View Full Version : Is my medication only halfway working?

I'm on Vyvanse and the first four days was wonderful and I was so excited to see what it was actually like to be a productive person. However, since then it's gone downhill.

It works for about two hours. It hits a "peak" and rapidly begins falling. So much so that I'm exhausted and irritable by mid-afternoon. Now, I read that my medication is supposed to work all day (approx 12 hours). Is this a medication problem or what? I'm so frustrated because I know I can actually be "normal" when the medication works to the full expectation.

I'm just wanting to not have to cram my entire day of tasks in a two-hour window because that's the only time I seem to be able to accomplish anything. Thanks everyone. I'm so new to treatment so I guess I'm wanting a quick fix to my problem.

not vyvanse but I opted for adderall immediate release as opposed to the XR version so I can tweak it to suit my needs.

I think you're the second person I've read a post from in the week that had vyvanse lasting issues.

Might be a dose issue or extended release vs immediate release issue (am i correct that vyvanse is only XR?), or is could be that vyvanse is simply not for you.

before opting for something else, discuss dosing with your doctor. Maybe upping it a tad might help.

Thank you. I go back in a few weeks and I hope he'll change something. I think Vyvanse is XR, at least from what I've read.

Lailey I had this exact problem with vyvanse. Worked great but only for about 4-6 hours at the most and the crash was not good. Swithced to Adderall IR and that helps with not having the crash, but is not as effective for me as Vyvanse was. Seeing my Pdoc in about two weeks and am going to request Vyvanse again with a Dexedrine kicker in the evening and see what he says. But for me, it definitely wore off way sooner then the supposed all day relief!
