I'm new to this so... I began to look into Adult ADD sites as a result of years of being on meds for depression that were not working. I discovered that stimulants were about the only thing that seemed to help overcome the lethargy and depression. For 5 years Dr's I saw said no to my requests for Ritalin. Anyway, I began to get Ritalin on the web. but supply was erratic and I thought I was doing too much when I did get it. I took the Amen Clinic tests several times and it always came out, Limbic(highly probable) Innattentive type(highly probable) I finally got an appointment with a Psychiatrist and was given Adderall about a month and a half ago. Now I find myself wondering if i'm really ADD. I'm having some good results with the med. but not all is rosey. The Dr I saw talked with me about a half hour, it seems, and now I wonder. He seemed impressed with the Amen test. I just cant remember much about how it was in school. I'm 55 now. I found some old report cards but the first 5 or so look OK. There werent many comments. The 8th grade was different(diff.school, diff. city) , lots of "wastes time" "does'nt live up to potential".
I've had a lot of trouble throughout life, alcohol/substanse issues.
I just hope I'm on the right track.

keep searching and trying to remember. Many of the issues you have describes are congruent with ADHD, but keep an open mind because they are also semi-congruent with Bi-polar disorders. Ask your psychiatrist if your isurance covers ADD/ADHD testing and if it does then take a series of the tests to either confirm or rule out ADHD.

Spend some time journaling about your past as well. Sometimes that will help jog your memory. IF you have any old journals read them and present any valid information to your Psychiatrist for review.

Good luck
