I tried it for the first time yesterday... 2.5 milligrams and it was great! I still had my personality and I got so many things done, and didn't feel like I was on speed! The first a.d.d. drug that didn't make me shake and I felt pretty calm. I noticed my mind was a little in and out slow wise, but for the most part I felt pretty good. If I sat down for awhile I would notice my mind would slow down again. It was kind of like I had to keep talking to someone, be entertained by something, or doing something: or I would start zoning out. I was so much more attentive in my conversations and I acctually watched something on t.v. that never interested me before! Only big problem to me is that when I tried waking up this morning, I couldn't get up! I was pressing my snooze button for about 3 hours until I finally forced myself to get up. It kind of feels like a hangover. Has anyone ever experience this? If so, does it go away after a few days? If it makes any difference, I also take seroquel to help me sleep at night.

lucky you, I wouldn't be able to tell if I took 2.5mg, lol.

Never experienced a "dex hangover"

Has anyone ever experience this? If so, does it go away after a few days? If it makes any difference, I also take seroquel to help me sleep at night. I've never experienced that side effect from Dexedrine, but I have experienced that from medications that I've taken to help me sleep.

From my experience, it can often be pretty hard to discern the exact nature of a given side effect after having taken a medication for just one day, especially at a dose that most doctors would consider a small pediatric dose of 2.5 mg.

That is not to say that 2.5 mg is not a proper dose for an adult, because we each can and do respond differently to these medications. That being said, I believe that a person should go with whatever they and their Dr thinks is best for them.

I find that I sometimes feel groggy and so tired some mornings regardless of what I did the day before. Often I have wondered if perhaps the quality of my sleep/dreams may cause this, but I can't be sure. I guess what I am trying to say is that more often than not whenever I felt that a new medication might actually be causing one side effect or another during the initial stages of my therapy with it, I tended to usually be over analyzing my initial side effects. In hindsight I would usually find that the way the medication effected me after a few weeks into my therapy was typically not the same way that it effected during the initial stages of my therapy.

Please keep us posted on how things unfold for you on that end.

that makes sense. I probably am overanalyzing is it, as I do everything :p. I'm really impatient and impulsive when it comes to meds haha. My doctor is reallly trying to help me with that! I told her about the reaction I was having, and she told me to get off the seroquel. So wee'll see what happens

One thing that works good for me is to set my alarm for one hour before I actually want to get up. When the first alarm goes off, take your am dose of DEX, go back to sleep, and when the next alarm goes off you should be ready to start your day. This is a very effective way to combat the problem the OP described.
