I am what I call an "anti-sound person." I HATEHATEHATEHATEHATE certain sounds and I don't understand why they don't bother anyone else. Here's a short list:
Pens clicking
the sound of someone chewing with their mouth open
whistling (this is a HUGE one)
humming
gum popping/cracking
the sound of something crunchy being chewed

I don't know why it bothers me, it just does. And try as I might, I can't get past it. I even annoy myself if I make any of these sounds!

You sound alot like my daughter, she's not ADD but has anxiety and sensory issues.

She also hates the sound a knife or fork makes on a plate. Too much base on the car radio, washing dishes because of the sounds.

Hello. I'm also hypersensitive, not just to certain sounds, but also to bright or flashing lights (sometimes just movement in general), also to the touch of certain things (I'm very particular what I wear), to the smell of certain things (mostly perfumes). I'm not really sensitive to pain, but when I'm in pain it doesn't take much of anything else to put me over the edge. And not too bothered by taste and texture when eating.

I'm sure I've seen several threads about the topic of hyper-sensitive people. It does seem that more of us ADDers seem to be hyper-sensitive than in the normal population, or maybe that's just because we have a place like this to gather and talk about it? Anyway, here's one of the threads:

And here's a link to some information on the different ways hyper-sensitivity presents:

HA! I can not STAND people chewing with their mouth open! It doesn't gross me out-it's just... that SOUND.
I almost go apoplectic when forced to listen to sports on the radio-Christ, the CHAOS of it.
Anything loud and screechy.
More than one person talking at the same time.
I have to try so hard to keep the intolerance in check with 2 kids and a husband who loves football!!

Haha hey!
I have hypersensitive hearing :) haha one of my 2 main sensory issues haha
I dont like high pitched noises, repetitive noises or exceptionally loud noises! For example the other day in english we were listening to a tape of a book. It was that loud that i ended up sitting in the corner with my hands over my ears rocking back and forth because it made me feel physically sick!
oh the joys of sensory issues *rolls eyes*
haha
dont worry you are not alone :)

It really bothers me when I hear someone sneeze lol. I just get grossed out, not like aggravated from the noise.

The sound people make when they chew with their mouth open drives me nuts as well. Haha half my family did that... I hated eating dinner with them! They were always just making this sound like they were really enjoying their meal haha.

does anyone ever feel kind of sick or dizzy when they are in a certain light setting? Like really bright lights in a classroom or really low lights in a restaurant?

I can relate to the humming. DW does it all the time now.... I get even by clicking my pen and twanging a paper clip on my desk :D

It is actually common with ADDers to have higher sensitivity to our senses. I have come across this in several books on ADD. It tends to vary from person to person and it isn't a automatic if you have ADD that you are sensitive to sense but it is very common. The best I can respond to this is take comfort in the fact that you aren't alone in this.

I am very sensitive in all of my sense actually. Tactile is hard because my parents didn't understand why sometimes I didn't want to hug them and all, I wanted space. It had nothing to do with how I felt about them. I can understand now how it would be hard for others who don't understand our sensitivity.

Is anyone else sensitive in all their senses?

Also I noticed I end up taking off jewelry or watch halfway through the day or so if I am wearing any. It is too distracting around my neck, arm or finger. Although necklaces are usually ok. I just recently realized that this was because of my tactile sensitivity, I guess I'd never thought about it before but it makes sense now. Anyone else experience this?

Tactile sensory overload is something I've always dealt with as well. Didn't notice it so much with my family growing up because they weren't a very "huggy" bunch, but it really bugged my hubby while we were married. I really hate sleeping with someone else, being touched especially on my back wakes me up or keeps me from relaxing and being able to sleep (and the snoring is horrible to my ears).

I was with some friends Saturday night and we were talking about taking one of the daughters shopping for new clothes. I pretty much kept quiet, not because I don't like the girl or don't want to help her, but because I have no idea what clothes are trendy for a 16 year old girl. I never have known. I buy my clothes based on comfort, not on style.

And yeah, I'm pretty much the same about jewelry. Anything bulky or heavy I never buy or wear, and even then I find myself taking it off within a few hours. I cannot sleep in jewelry, especially necklaces. And I've never worn jewelry. Can't really understand why people have someone punch a hole in their ears so they can wear earrings all the freakin' time.
