I wouldn't have a link for you except maybe the Minnesota Study of twins reared apart, which does go into the similarities of separated twins, but also the differences. They often argue with the study that the main reason the twins were similar besides things such as IQ is because of the fact they were raised in similar households. Again, nature vs. nurture debate which has to be one of the longest going psychological debates going on. Neither side has been proven so far.

I am a firm believer that society influences more than genes. Aside from things like autism or other brain disorders, how a person views and takes on life is mostly set in upbringing my opinion. Again there is no scientific evidence supporting either side, just opinion. I believe genetic disorders are inherited, but personality wise I believe a majority is set from society and its influences.

So - I'm suggesting that there needs to be a set of laws which reflect morality - they must be understood by all people - and the same set of rules must apply to all people.

The notion of separateness -
due to (for instance) national boundary -
is turning out to be a breeding ground for immorality -
- for cheating and for the bad guys to prosper

for instance -
selling kids from one country to a rich 'nother
buying internal organs from poor people in a country - for sale abroad

- in the sense that rich country corporate strategies are moving towards evading the tough laws of their native country -
- and are moving to other countries where the rules are less stringent.

Tight legal systems are being evaded by those rich enough to evade the rules -
- and little people without much money bear the brunt of draconian legal systems.

Only the corporate lawyer wins.

This basic idea applies to people playing the differences in prices in different places

if one is in a country where a banana costs $1 and can send them to a place where a banana costs $10 -
- and make ten times as much money -
then this relentless desire for money drives the individual into so doing.

If only money matters (corporate motivation) -
- then one is vindicated in use of every tool at one's disposal to make it -
- and if one controls the legal system - then introduce laws which maximise corporate wealth -

- it's really so very obvious -

which we must adhere to -
- and which I violently oppose

- then the philosophies can be seen to be directly analogous -

because maintenance of power over others and not equality - is accomplished only by failure to explain decisions.

None of this is an attack on anyone -
I'm happy to be the offender -

at least - not too sure whether I have any choice -
- and unlike in real life - the worst penalty which can be levied -
is not complete loss of freedom -

so the loss to the individual through penalty (here) (banned from usage of site) is not worth fighting for.

Though - it's (yet again) - another of those non-issues
when one considers that it disappears when the 'desire for power' -
disappears.

Another suggestion might be for moderators to have different names for moderation duty - to permit a level playing field -
- though this is difficult -
because the moderator in mod mode would need to use few words -
as I'm pretty sure that most of us are good at picking up on style of written expression in others.

I have seen a lot of stuff lately, but I was being my nice usual polite self:p
I am good at ignoring stuff that I don't like, but a lot of people are more sensitive than we are:eek:




I'm getting my posts edited (and don't know why) -
and so am having to use the 'Ignore list' -
if only because I don't know what I've done wrong, can accept - because there's no way of finding out - that I have done something wrong

and so can only really not participate with certain people.

Bit sad - because if I really am blind to this aspect of my own behaviour -I'd like to know what I am blind to -
not because I'll be able to change

(because I think thart I must be blind to my own actions -
- for a reason) -

- but instead because the awareness is important.

It'd be great if maybe we could have the edited out bits put into some location for a little while -
- with a reason for the 'edit'

- though for no other reason than to prevent the problem from recurring by the offender (me) -
- knowing his offence.

I've had 3 edits / warnings in the last day or so.

So - in the absence of knowing what I've done -
I'm having to put people onto my 'Ignore' list -

- just one at the moment

- hopefully no others (though I can see another from
'cau$e of ADD'
- having to go on) .

The take-home message I think is that either moderator or forum member has made an error -
moderator edits without explanation (doesn't prevent recurrence) - and so offender (myself) -
doesn't change.

I had thought that I could see pointless rudeness, inappropriate comment and could avoid behaving similarly -
am now in the position of wondering what happens when a transmitter, receiver and moderator are all in a conversation -
where all three have a different interpretation on the words being used.

This is a major problem -
here's the solution -

moderator need be relegated to arbitrator -
and all three communicating partners afforded level (equal) 'power' -

it's impossible to see the scheme working (which I'm suggesting) - unless one can see that we've already made the transition away from physical level hierarchy and into logical level hierarchy -

here's an example -
I've learnt my best science from those with fewest paper qualifications
and objected most to those who have all the right pieces of paper -

(comes down to the adoption of not informed -
instead of rigid inflexible dogmatic thinking -
as the produce of current educational systems)

I'm trying to drill down into the actual 'point of education here'

Try turning your PM options on and maybe you would have found out maybe it would not have happened - not all occurrences are worthy of a warning . .. but friendly PMs are hard when you are blocking the effort here - some time the thing that happen are a result of our decisions and not the preference of others Yes I know you have your PM option off - there is an obvious reason HOW I know this - hello

If you have a problem with a member the ignore feature works better than multiple infractions by staff

However most members and staff find PM works better then having people address their problems with us in open post

Most importantly

This thread needs to find a better tone or it is going to be closed !

If you post is edited then you have violated a guideline - see tag at bottom of your edited post - it was probably some thing minor. Major stuff normally generates a warning/infractions by staff. Don't worry we have ways to deliver these things despite PM box settings - :D
