This is about my 11th days with Concerta 18 mg. This is the first day I experienced lost of appetite. I feel that the meal yesterday was too much. I had hard time with digestion last night, feeling it was somehow slowed down. Got a small breakfast, took the pill (6:30 AM) and got to work.
Then, contrary to all the first days, I felt really weird in the morning. Not much trouble with concentration but feeling a bit nervous. Could not finish my small lunch (this is not me).
In the afternoon, I felt like the effect was more appropriate, less stressed and still able to concentrate. But then, instead of feeling the med going away at around 3 PM, it kept going on. Not much appetite at 5 and I still feel that I have the effect at 6:30 PM.
As anyone experience some days this kind of delayed effect? Not that I dislike having the effect that late, this is the appropriate time for me as I must take care of my 3 kids, it is much like I feel I do not have much control over when it happen.

I had not appetite on Concerta, and I found out sure I was not hungry but I would snack threw the day and drink a lot of Water.. and it would not have the delayed effects as it would be digested more...
It can sometimes last oly 6 hours to me, sometimes up to 12.. It all depends on what I am doing.. thhe reason you feel different right after is the outside coating hits you all at once, and then the time realse goes into effect.
I have been on it for 7 years... it works

For sure it work. I don't remember feeling so good, sleeping so well and being able to do one thing at at time and not forget anything. I can't believe I have been in that fog 35 years...
It's been 2 weeks now and I don't feel the side effects of the first days. However, I really hate the sensation I get when the effect start to wear out too early, say at aroung 11 am and then I go to a meeting. I feel my symptoms come back worse than before and I then feel that weird sensation. I would describe it as being "in between" the good sensation of the morning and when the effect is completely out at 5 PM. By good I mean I just don't feel I took any meds.
No days are the same regarding the effect. Today was I think the best I ever had: calm, very efficient, social interaction were a pleasure and it last most of the day, until around 4 PM. Yesterday was totally different, bad afternoon, that weird sensation.
I am scheduled to increase the dose Wednesday after talking with my doctor. I hope it keep well.
jb99508: In your 7 years taking it, have you notice what circumstance make the effect last 12 hours and what make it last 6?

I found it has to do alot of what I have eaten or drank during the day, because the more you eat or drink the more it digest's I find if I eat before I take it, I feel fine.. and then if I eat lunch.. and then snack it lasts longer..
I recently have had trouble sleeping, which is not good, but the thing that helped if i started on 36 for about 2 months then went to 54 which i have stayed on so.
I felt really anxious my first night on methylphenidates (it was ritalin back then), but the food thing lasted for less than a week. Concerta is the med for me lol.
The only problem is that it lasts for around 9 hours and starts acting about an hour after taking the spansule. I'm taking 54 mg right now.

Since my last post I have double the dose, now at 36 mg. The effect is more consistent, last from 10 to 12 hours. 18 mg was not enough, I was feeling good only at the first few hours peak.
I will stick with that dose for a while. I felt side effects again when I increased the dose but it is all gone now after a week. I feel like a brand new man, able to do the once boring tasks all day instead of the 10 minutes at a time like before. Next time I see my doctor, I may ask for a "booster" for the remaining of the day, but right now, I can live having some symptoms for a few hours.
I just have positive effects now!! :):):)
