View Full Version : Suggestion to change the forum colors
Ok, this may sound trivial, but is there a possible way to change the colors of the page we're seeing, individually? Like we can with our profiles? Or does it have to stay the dark blue - light blue combination? I love blue as you can sometimes tell, but on an every day basis it tends to drive me nuts. Just a thought... whether it's workable or not is to be seen.
I do know that some have problems with motions, etc, so if it can't be done, that's ok, too.
IF someone already asked this, I apologize for sounding like a broken record.
Apparently not, sigh! Please remove this post, since noone has answered.
livinginchaos 03-30-08, 04:47 AM hi Mary!
I'm sorry no one has responded to you and your question.
As of right now, it's not possible for the main page (but is possible with your profile) to be other colors.
I'm not sure if changing main page colors will be possible in the future - that's something perhaps David or admin can answer.
~boots~ 03-30-08, 05:08 AM Mary, I think it'll look brill pink ;)

I guess you can do it at that link.
That link will let you change the color of your profile.
Forum colors can't be changed at this time. However, David has previously announced that a new skin will be coming to the forums. Members will be able to switch between this one and the skin, once its installed.
If you're technically savvy, you can use the Stylish plugin with FireFox to change the appearance of the website. If I'm so inclined one day, I might do it and take a screenshot to demonstrate it.
And if you're really keen, you can use GreaseMonkey to customise the site even further with JavaScript.
You can change your browser default colors usually.
In Firefox go to tools/options, the "content" window, "colors" button in fonts & colors, choose a background color, UN-check the "allow pages to choose their own colors...."
Then go back out and hit reload. This makes all the background (bars and windows) the same. And all the websites you go to will be the same. But if you really need a break from the site colors..........

I took a 2 year break..and just getting back into the swing of things. I do however, try and make it outside for a walk and some fresh air. I've also taken up photography... at least on a small scale to start.
meadd823 04-09-08, 09:58 PM I like this combo because I can read the post - too much contrast makes it hard and the wrong contrast combo makes it impossible for me to read for any length of time. I used to visit a debate site regularly - but they changed their site colors where the contrast is horrible - They use white letters on a black back ground so I quit going because it gave me a head ache to read.

I use firefox some times - certain sites do better with that browser - it is also more stable I will have to try that option with the debate site I miss going there -

Oh good I am glad choices are being considered - I know others may want a different scheme but some combinations with extreme contrast I simply have a hard time with and the present ADDF colors combined with my lower monitor setting allow me to be able to read comfortably. I spend a lot of time on this site and I like the colors we have presently.

Very understandable. I have found lately that I'm having trouble reading if the font isn't made bold, as well. I'll cope somehow. The background is fine behind posts. I just thought some other colors around the top and edges would make a nice change.
perpetualmotion 04-16-08, 05:03 PM I always find nice cool shades of green to be very calming and easy on the eye .... :)
