I have ADHD (inattentive type) and I wear jeans all the time.

But I also have something called Sensory Integration Disorder and I can only wear soft t-shirts and that type of thing. ADHD and SID are two different things, I just happen to have them both.

SID can also make a person extremely sensitive to noises or lights or smells, anything that affects any of the senses.

I didn't wear jeans until high school. Before that I only wore track pants as I felt them comfortable. I never wore underwear until high school. I anticipated going to high school and being tortured for these two things, so I did it myself.

I am extremely fickle physically. It's hard for me to get into a body position I am comfortable in whether sitting, lying, or walking... about the only time I'm happy physically is when my thoughts are elsewhere...I'm sure it's all connected to being in the moment and such and ADHD/OCD/Tourettes hybrid...

As I kid I hated wearing jeans. It was too scratchy or tight or something.

When I went to uni I saw it was all people wore so I gave it another go. Now I barely wear anything else.

I used to hate jeans because of how they felt. You really have to 'break them in' and run them through the washing machine a few times and they feel much better afterwards.

Don't really like jeans too, unless they're comfy.
And I recognise the not wanting to wear tight things, or synthetic fibers (freak me out), or necks or cuffs that are tight .. or any jewelry .. don't even wear a watch.
Oh, and bra's that look like they are designed by a civil engineer (adds up to 90% of them). And underwear with these sharp thin elastic rims *ouch* and the worst of all, that insane underwear that seems to be made out of shoe strings .. I cannot imagine that someone would wear that except at gun point.

I do like loose fitting cotton shirts, skirts .. oh wait - exception to the "not tight" rule .. I do like tights (under a skirt) and also mountain boots, bc they give some sense of physical stability (my equilibrium is not that good)

That's because Vancouver has had a long drought period. When I lived in Vancouver they still got rain, for days, and months . . . . ne're a ray of sunshine. It took me years not to automatically grab an umbrella on my way out the door.

Luthien, ditto on the clothes and jewelry. I wear a watch at work because it's a necessity.

Growing up I hated jeans and refused to wear them until I was 16 went shopping and found a pair I liked. I've been wearing jeans almost every day since :)

You know what I hate about jeans, if they're tight it's hard to get things in and out of the pockets, and if you put items in there you can see the bulge really clearly. That doesn't look very feminine, bulgy pockets!!!

I wear jeans all the time, they're the most comfortable kind of clothes for me.

I'm like Luthien and Imnapl with clothes and things. They have to be comfy and fit just right. Too loose can be as uncomfortable for me as too tight. And I almost never wear skirts or dresses. They make me look fat(ter).

For working out, I wear shorts and don't like long pants/tights because they're too warm. Even when it's cold. Except one pair I have made of micro fibre that wicks away moisture, and that's the only kind of synthetic I like to wear.

In summer, for the couple of days it's really hot :p , I'll wear shorts, but I prefer crop pants, because different textures touching the back of my knees really bother me.

We need a "special needs" clothing shop just for us, don't we?;)

When I was growing up I would wear jeans but only after running them through at least 2 wash & dry cycles. Sometimes more. Now days most of the jeans you buy are pre-washed, and that is good enough for me "most of the time". The only way I can wear sweaters is if I have on a cotton shirt under it. Even cotton sweaters drive me nuts.

Some ADDers also are highly sensitive people (HSP). So touching certain fabrics or materials can cause some strong reactions in those who are HSP.

That's what a purse is for! It's almost warm enough for me to start using my man-bag again... I too cannot stand or physically am able to put all my **** in my shorts pockets in the summer.... besides a bag is awesomely practical and functional and accessories are da ****!

I LOVE track pants! I have like 10 suits and countless ones for when I go camping or kayaking or whatever. T-shirts are tough because of my chest issue..either waaay to big or waaaay to small! The BEST t-shirst for women are the Life-is-good brand. They are sooo soft and fit great!

The person who came up with tagless garments was a lifesaver for me. Anything touching the back of my neck, sends me through the roof. My mom would literally take the tags out and resew that seam, so that I wouldn't complain.

I can't stand the seams in socks either. The socks that have extra support around the arch also bother me.

I'm also allergic to wool ... and some polyesters.

Pre-washed jeans for me. If I get some that haven't been pre-washed. They're way too stiff and make me itch.

I'm also allergic to certain types of tape. It leaves a rash. So, when I go to the doctor I ask for the cloth tape. Any bandages we buy, are also cloth.

I'm allergic to certain kinds of soaps, because of the dyes used in them. We usually get plain white anti-bacterial soap. Or clear liquid soap.

Haha, well I never liked bathing at that point in my life either... now that's too much information... I realise of course now it wasn't an aversion to bathing, it's just that bathing meant I had to come inside from outside where I was playing and this was unacceptable damnit!

Now it's the same way, but I schedule it in because it's polite to smell not like a man around other people.

how do you make yours?


Grate half a bar of soap (I used Castille soap) into a large cooking pot.
Add at least a gallon of water, probably a little more.
Simmer over low heat until soap is melted into the water.
Stir in 1/2 cup of washing soda (Arm&Hammer from the laundry aisle in the store), let simmer a few minutes more until well dissolved.
Pour carefully into used laundry detergent jug or any other container that you can shake and pour from.
When using, shake first and then use about 1/2 cup per load of laundry, more for larger or heavily soiled loads, less for smaller loads. It will be about the consistency of Chinese egg drog soup.

You can also add 1/2 cup of borax (20 Mule Team - also in the laundry aisle). And you can add a couple of drops of essential oil if you want it scented. The main reason I make my own is that I'm allergic or sensitive to scented products.

This leaves my clothes naturally clean-smelling and so soft that I don't need to add a softner. For those clothes that develop static cling in the dryer I was using a crumpled up ball of aluminum foil - it really works, but my daughter bought a couple of rubber dryer balls, you just leave them in the dryer and they shorten drying time as well as fluffing and softening the clothes.

LOL! For your information...I have several pairs of gloves AND just because I wore boxers doesn't mean I smell like a man! Truth be known I am a girlie girl and I happen to smell like jasmine/vanilla and cherry blossom. And I take a bath everyday even if I have to come in from playing outside :D

oooooh capris. I have two pair of khaki capris that are my (house)work pants. They've got paint and mud stains but i love them. Soooo comfy. I wear them in summer since I'm not crazy about shorts.

Yes... to those with extreme allergies, it is. I can only use certain kinds of soap... or I break out. I can't use DOVE... because it dries my skin so badly it cracks.

I can't use zest...because it also makes me dry out and itch. Some hand sanitizers also make my hands so dry they crack.

When I still smoked it really used to upset me if people acted like that .. although I understood very well that smoke can bother others.

I've always hated those heavy perfumes. In the Netherlands at least they made you go past the perfume department first when you entered department stores .. it was like choking :(

And then there's those men that wash themselves in aftershave :rolleyes:

but I *do* like the very slight, light smells of some perfumes .. as long as it's *really* light and non-obtrusive.

My ex gf worked with people who in the Netherlands are referred to as 'mentally handicapped' or 'disabled' (like severely low level Down syndrome or Autism .. like mentally 1 yr old) .. an expression that is 'not done' here in North America. It's something with 'challenged' here .. or maybe that has become to0 rude as well? In a personnel magazine from her employer a columnist wrote that in the not too distant future, the term 'people with possibilities' would become the correct term.

it is as if there is a movement .. not only away from words that are perceived as belittling, but also from naming things like what they are, towards what we want them to be. I have the impression that that is not always completely in sync with reality or logic.

In a similar way .. we seem to be getting more and more sensitive to smells as well. Last year in Vancouver was the first time ever that I saw a sign in a bus that sort of intended to shame you if you happened to be one of those perfume bombs :D

I like jeans, but the only pair of underwear I can tolerate are the stretchy material, sport style ones (like under armour) and I was so frustrated the other day my favourite and most comfortable pair were sitting in the bottom of my pile of clean clothes for a week or so (I keep everything except dress clothes in a pile - too lazy to hang/fold and put things in drawers) and the tag in the back got folded and was creased across the middle of it and caused it to stick up into my skin so annoyingly that I couldn't do my work so I went to the washroom with scissors and was trying to cut it in front of the mirror looking over my shoulder at my back waist but was hard since moving the blades was reversed (mirror) and I ended up cutting a whole in the damn shorts, my favourite pair that cost $35 damn dollars!!!! :x

Don't really like jeans too, unless they're comfy.
And I recognise the not wanting to wear tight things, or synthetic fibers (freak me out), or necks or cuffs that are tight .. or any jewelry .. don't even wear a watch.
Oh, and bra's that look like they are designed by a civil engineer (adds up to 90% of them). And underwear with these sharp thin elastic rims *ouch* and the worst of all, that insane underwear that seems to be made out of shoe strings .. I cannot imagine that someone would wear that except at gun point.

I do like loose fitting cotton shirts, skirts .. oh wait - exception to the "not tight" rule .. I do like tights (under a skirt) and also mountain boots, bc they give some sense of physical stability (my equilibrium is not that good)

You're preferences are a lot like mine. As far as the jean question goes -- I love jeans -- I live in them. I like all natural fiber clothes. The only exception to that is polar fleec material which is great for jackets and such. I can't stand most man made materials and 100% wool tends to make me really itchy to the point of distraction.

Favorite outfit is jeans, sneakers, and sweatshirt. I do love cotton!

I prefer jeans and cargo type pants. I like them because I go to colege about 6:30 - 7:00 am, so it's from chilly to freezing, and then it's likely for the weather to warm up. So that way I stay fresh and don't freeze my legs during the first hours in the morning. However I do like wearing shorts when at home or during summer.

I think I associate smells with memories or feelings..My mom loved magnolias so now I do. I love my jasmine/vanilla because it smells so good (to me) and it relaxes me and makes me feel pretty! :)

HOWEVER, ;) Although I like these smells...I do not know exactly how many different ways you guys can tell me I stink!!! Perhaps this is one of those times where I am not picking up the hint......:p:p
