I am curious as to what your "love language" is...

Dr. Gary Chapman says that there are 5 different ways that people show love. A lot of people have more than one. What is your primary one or at least top 2 (or if tied for first)

1) Words of Affirmation- "I can live 2 months on a compliment" "Your oatmeal cookies are the best in the world." This simple statement makes you feel loved.

2)Quality Time- spending time with someone makes you feel loved

3) Receiving gifts- getting little things (or big) that means they love you

4)Acts of Service- doing things like housework or laundry for someone.

5)Physical Touch- hugs, slightly touching someone's arm while talking to them.

I do 4 and 3 a lot. I like to cook for people. Whenever someone I like is down I force food on them, homemade stuff.

Best thing my hubby does for me is "chore love." AAAAAaaaaah. Twisted, isn't it? I feel so peaceful when we have an orderly house.

Oh, yeah, and, uh, other stuff.... naturally.... :o:rolleyes:

I do love hugs so #5 is my top one, for sure. Words of Affirmation is a VERY close second. Quality Time is the third.

I'm not really sure. More than likely, it is. I think she is one of the most beautiful women to have graced the big screen.

Not me.

Mincan- are you saying that she isn't beautiful? .......

Mincan

Of course not! She is elegant, but not the most... and I like her movies and she was a wonderful person.

If not Audrey Hepburn..than who? I mean that woman is stunning!!!! I mean, she made the "basic Black Dress" the staple it is today!!! She is the essence of beauty!!

that picture makes her look like she's got a telescopically expanding neck -
like a giraffe
doesn't - but would have if it did.

none of the list jumped out at me..

for me it is
thoughtfulness...all the little things that are done that are thoughtful without even having to think

eg..

.standing on a sprinkler that has come on so I don't get wet as I go by
.making sure I get a nice coffee in bed
.catching me fish
.parking my car last on the driveway so it's easy to leave

etc etc

What about my partner?!?! I am a bit confused as to what mr. picture of a spiderweb is talking about...is it just me?

The thoughtfullness....is like acts of services. Those little things that someone physically does for you.

Nope, I can't understand him half the time either.

Yes, Chattygirl,

I've even gone so far as to read SB's threads going back to 2004 (pretty much all of them... my, that was a hyperfocus binge, if I've ever engaged in one...) and I still can't understand 90% of what he says... So it's not just you! SB's occupying a different layer in the onion or something...

My neck is also long. Maybe that's why I like Audrey Hepburn, too. But I'm always fascinated by the fact that the women that women find attractive are often different from the women that men find attractive.

Hey, Driver. Nice to see ya.

Yeah, that happens over here ... all the time ... but we do agree on the personality part.

I love that expression on so many levels! ;)

Long necks rock! They're sexy. Show us ya neck! ;)

This has always fascinated me too.

#4 - Acts of Service is mine. Read the book many years ago (or rather listened to the tape).

We tend to LOVE in our own love language, so if you look through the list and find which one your prefer to love people by, that is more than likely your love language.

I forget what my wife's is... it's not #4 I can tell you that. She has never given a care about mine so I forgot hers after running on empty and over-drafting her love account w/ me. I need to foreclose on her.

Sandy4957

BTW, Driver, I can't take credit for the onion line. That's actually SB's. I probably used it incorrectly, too. Whatever. ;)

Tracy, these are all acts of service #4, just like me. Show me you love me by taking the time to do something or expend some of your effort and energy on me. This actually costs you something. Words don't cost anything, hugs and shared bodily contact provide benefit to both the toucher and the touchee. Acts of service are something that you give freely of yourself to another with no expectations of getting anything for yourself. It's selfless.
