Hi all,

Please help me on this on. I had a very bad experience with Wellbutrin 300mg and 40mg/Dex/day. After ca. 10 days panic and anxiety attacks. I did not leave the house anymore, benzo tolerance, horrible!

Since I experienced many typical symptoms, rapid cycling, raising thought, euphoria, emptiness, one week in bed, eating too much or nothing at all, being awake for 5 days, suicide mania ending up in hospital.

My doc just says I am reacting very sensitive to dex which is then causing a mild psychosis.

Do I just have "ordinary" bipolar?
Did Wellbutrin or Dex just trigger it in me and now I have it?
Is it just the dex that causes this?
Or what the hell is going on?

Can someone help?

Wow thats a nice load of stimulants... well here's the good news, the Wellbutrin would have stopped the Dexedrine from releasing any neurotransmitters from their synapses (its a reuptake inhibitor but also an antagonist)... so I don't really see 40mg of dex a day as a lot... in fact I could take that very well and actually would be my perfect dose... I'm on 30mg now but I'm taking them in such a way (4 hours apart) where I have an hour of rebound inbetween each dose and its ****ing me off, next month I'll probably go into the doc to complain about it. If I took them all an hour sooner I could handle 40mg easy without taking any too late in the day...

I would blame the wellbutrin, I don't like that stuff.

I agree taking 4 times 10mg is nothing. My doc said he had one case in his career with a ampetamin induced psychosis or mania. But that guy took a 1g a day. lets see what happens...

but again, do you have bipolar within you (genetic) and then it is either triggered or not if you are lucky. In this case most likely wellbutrin and then you get all the symtomes????

The more complex the mode of action, the less I seem to like it.

Some people can experience mania whilst on anti-depressants, but I'm not sure if it happens with Wellbutrin, but it can happen with SSRIs and MAOIs etc.

Why did the doc give you Wellbutrin? You might want to talk to your doc and consider stopping it as it's clearly doing more harm than good.

One is an inherited neurobiological condition which can happen at any time, while the other is drug induced.

Thanks, that I wanted to know but is a 3rd combination possible, that the drug induces the inherited condition (bipolar)? If yes, how do you tell?
