I got diagnosed with Adult ADHD, was put on Adderall, and now Concerta. I went off Adderall b/c of the side effects. Concerta seems to "work" well.

Here's the problem. I seem to waste MORE time when I am on the drugs, then when I am off of them. BUT...when off of the I have a tougher time focusing, retaining information, etc.

It is almost a catch 22. When I am on the drugs I focus well, but on the wrong things. It is almost as if I am sitting there, doing something other than what I should do, I know it, but I CAN'T move. I just keep sitting, and going ang going. Hours pass. It is crazy.

Anyone else struggle with this? Have any suggestions?

Hmmmm...for me it depends. For example, if I don't get enough sleep the medicine won't do much to help me focus on important stuff. If you have something important to do on a 'bad day' like this, go somewhere where you won't be distracted by books, T.V s computers etc.

Or...just procrastinate :p

yep... that happens to me when i'm reading my book in my computer room, or much worse, when i'm in front of the computer.

meds only help me to maintain my focus on boring things hehe.

what i did, i go to a coffee shop and study there. i don't drink coffee while on concerta. i just order cake and sprite :)

I have found that sometimes if you don't have the right dose, it causes me to "zone" or even procrastinate more just because I am focusing on one aspect of a situation. I asked my doc to reduce my meds, and it was enough to keep me focused, yet not too much to make me feel as if I Can't get anything done because I'm in Space.

I'm the opposite. I drink coffee even when I'm on the medicine.
