View Full Version : Diagnosis... possible bipolar, what do you think?

So I recently started seeing a psychiatrist for many depression, anxiety, add issues. Generally, I feel just ok. Not bad, not good. just ok. But sometimes, and my parents noticed this for most of my life, I go into severe depressions. Lasts anywhere from a couple days to months.

But my psychiatrist asked me a interesting question... if ever at times I felt like I had more energy than usual, more upbeat, as if I feel "high" (but obviously not from drugs). I thought for a minute and said no, thinking of only my depressed low energy state that I was in. But this weekend, after 2 very stressful nights at works (had a panic attack both nights, I work in a restaurant where its fast paced and very stressful) I felt EXACTLY how he described this feeling. I have felt this feeling before but never really thought much of it because I was really really happy, so that was a good thing. It seems that maybe after being heavily stressed, I go into this state of mind. I never thought much of it until my psychiatrist asked me about it and I was more conscious of how my moods changed (he asked me to do that).

Normally, on nights like these in the past I remember not sleeping. I can sleep now because he put me on Remeron for depression which knocks me out cold. He also prescribed klonopin (first line SSRI's don't work with me, I posted about this awhile back) but they obviously don't work too well if I still had panic attacks friday night and saturday night.

So my guess is a rapid cycle bipolar disorder? IDK, what do you think? In my follow up appointment I will tell him this and see what he thinks and possibly get something else besides klonopins because they just don't work!

Thanks for any advice or input in advance...

During your moments of elation and high energy, how long would you go without sleep?

usually would stay up all that night and eventually sleep the next night...

Sounds like either Bipolar II or Cyclomythia.
