In the past when I picked up Xanax etc. I know I could ask them to split the dose (eg. If i took 1 mg at once, I could ask them to prescribe it in 0.5mg dosages instead)

Could I do the same for Concerta? Because I'm being switched from Dexedrine to Concerta and my doctor is an idiot and is giving me a huge dose for starters.

So instead of getting like 30 pills of 54mg of Concerta could I ask for 60 pills of 27?

A pharmacist can only fill your script per doctors instructions. Only your doctor can ok a change from the script, as far as I know. Anything that was not quite right on any script I've had, my pharmacist had to ok it with the doctor first before they could do anything.

Getting 30 pills versus 60 is cheaper anyway. And some insurance co's. (not sure if you're using ins. or paying out of pocket), will only cover X amount of pills per month. Is this a tablet or capsule? Could you just cut the pills yourself?

Did you ask your doctor to write it so you could have 60qty 27mg?

And I guess the next question, have you tried the 54mg dose yet? I realize a lot of finding the right dose is a guessing game, but once in awhile a doctor knows what he/she is doing.
