View Full Version : On Dex Again
There's probably heaps of threads like this one but, oh well. I'm on Dex for the second time. I was on it for a short time in 2006. Its going well so far (three days) but i'm getting headaches - is this a common side effect? I had to take valium last night because my neck was so sore and felt locked-up.
Should i stop taking my fish oil tablets now that i'm on this?
Also i was wondering how/if Dex works long term.
Any comments/advice would be very appreciated. My so-called phych informs me of nothing, everything i've learnt about AD/HD, i've learnt here or from books.
Cheers!:)

Oh yay!!!!:(:( So much to look forward to!
No really, thanks for replying, because it answers my question. I'm thinking of taking a half, instead of a full, each time for a few days. Will this be okay?
I'm such a pill-phobe. I'm even too scared to take panadol or something on top of my Dex.:o I'm such a drug woos!
Wow. I've had such the opposite reaction to Dexedrine. I've marvelled how relaxed my neck and shoulders are. When the Dex wears off I feel like a wind up doll being cranked tight, tight, tight. Maybe it's not the right medication for you...

Half should be ok while you're getting used to how it works. But if you're unsure, please check with doctor or pharmacist, just to be on the safe side.

I'm glad it's working for you, gogogo! :)

I think they meant that although the recommended max is 40mg, some people could be sensitive at lower doses (despite it being within range.)
I've been on 50mg/daily for a number of weeks now and my neck and shoulders haven't really changed much.. I tend to have more nervous habits, like sucking my lip when I'm freshly shaved and almost continuously running my tongue along the stubble - argh. Very sore. I also get a bit of anxiety..
My pdoc knows all this and doesn't think I've improved somewhat because he thinkgs my clarity of speech should improve when I'm showing marked improvement which I dont think has happened. At least now I'm slowly starting to slow down and understand I can't talk as fast as I think so I manage to concentrate on what I have to say, say it and keep actually concentrating on the sentence without drifting off (at least, most of the time).
I'm also on Valproate, the fish oil tablets, multivitamins and recently started taking L-tyrosine tablets. Valproate at double dosage I'm on presently + Dex was giving me nervous breakdowns but I'm OK at this dosage, though he wants to increase it a little later. The Tyrosine seems to have made me less anxious and given me a sense of belonging a bit more.
Anyway I just realised I went off on a tangent there. but that's my 0.02. :)
50mg of Dex? That sounds like a lot. How much did you start out on, if you don't mind me asking?
