I've never been Dx with an anxiety disorder but I'm wondering about depression and/or anxiety. I have classic symptoms of depression for sure and a few that point to anxiety as well.
I have a question though - can anxiety make it hard to swallow? For the past year or so (since noticing my anxiety symptoms - racing heart, jittery). It only happens when I feel extra anxious/panicky and can last for a day or so. It is NEVER a constant sensation.
I'm grasping for reasons this might be happening and I don't think it's an esophagus problem b/c they are "episodes" and not chronic.

Lump in throat & Difficulty swallowing
Globus Hystericus is the correct term for this symptom. It is caused by the muscles in the throat contracting due to anxiety or stress. Sometimes it feels like you cannot swallow anything and trying to makes it worse. This is another example of a symptom, which will improve if you give it no credibility. It is totally harmless and will not cause you to stop breathing, eating or drinking, it is just very unpleasant.

Thanks Andi...doctor diagnosed mine a few years ago. Along with my fibromyalgia, CFS and severe depression at that time. But it's always good to re-read the info.
