So, I usually 'study' at home. It's comfy. I don't think I get much done though...
I was wondering if others have to consciously make sure they study AWAY from home in order to get things done?
I need a special tape recorder (It's annoying to carry around) to listen to when I do my readings, so it's easier for me to listen at home... but I'm wondering if I would really get more done if I was not at home...
Does the brain work better when I a setting that IS set aside for studying...? Or would I work better where I am comfortable and at ease?
What do you think?
I find that I lack motivation to study when I get home, and then don't end up doing anything...
Hmmm...

I am with you on the not being able to study at home. The amount of work I get done is directly related to the distance from the place where I sleep each night. I find that I am much more productive in places where there are many ppl busy around me (e.g. computer lab or library) since I can constantly feel energy around me.

I have found I can't study at home either. I do better away from home. When I try to study at home, guess what I am staring at. My computer and I head straight to the chat room. But then again, I find it hard to go up to the campus after work because I work from 7am until 4pm and just want to come home and relax. I tried the bedroom, but then in bed I get sleepy and I can't get everything spread out around me right. I would even bring my stuff to work with me, but all that toting and carrying took its toll and by the time I ate, I only had 30 minutes left of study time anyway. So I have to find a way to either do it at home or get to campus.

The library. Couldn't get much done without using the study area in the library, or it's computer area. Bonus if your campus has a coffee bar there too. And caffeterias, even though they smell bad.
Also, coffee shops and cafes, on slow nights so the people working there don't get aggravated over a table being hogged for hours...
Parks are great too when it's nice.
I definately get more work done away from home. Even in a busy place there are fewer distractions, and equiped with only my school materials I have only two options: work, or be very bored.
So far I've also always mangaged to schedule about three hours of open time in my daily class schedule for lnch and study/assignments too. I don't think I would make it otherwise, on top of studying away from home after my classes and even on the weekends.

In my history class, our tests are essays and two of the essays are done at home. Well the last test, I procrastinated on my essays as normal so I went to the library. It was so quiet in there and they had the cubicles for privacy. But I had been exhausted. I found myself setting my alarm on my cell phone and taking a 30 minute nap. I did awful on the test.
