I'm in a blah mood and I feel like crying. Not depressed. Just blah. I love this forum because I don't feel less of myself for mentioning that! LOL.

Anyway. I have a song in my head so I'll share songs that make me wanna cry.

1) On and On (what's in my head right now. Can't think of who sings it. Not Trixter - they have a good song with the same title. It was on an old K-Tel record I used to have from the 70's or 80's.) Steven Bishop. Just looked it up.

2) Just Remember I Love You - (from the same album. Firefox or something like that? Firewall? No.) Firefall?

3) Ain't It Sad To Belong To Someone Else (When The Right One Comes Along) - maybe from the same album also! Same era. When I was upset at my mom, I liked this song. I don't think they meant Moms though!

4) The Last Kiss - the original or the more recent remake. Tearjerker!

5) One Tin Soldier - I sure am mentioning a lot of older songs!

6) Don't Take The Girl - Tim McGraw. I cry at the end

This is harder than I thought! I can picture the song. But now I have Last Kiss in my brain and everything else I already mentioned! A country song.....Something about a note and not waiting. The song is trying to push itself thru in my brain. Got it.

7) If You Get There Before I Do - Collin Ray

8) On and On - Trixter: 1991, the year I graduated. My friends and I loved Trixter. Another of my "fight with my mom" songs.

9) My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion - it's so haunting. And picturing the ocean scene from Titanic....

10) Days Gone By - Slaughter takes me back to 1991 and my metalhead years with me and my two best friends. Concerts, Metal Edge Magazine....cruising Douglas St. Those were the days!

11) Blood on Blood - Bon Jovi - how Danny's a lawyer and Bobby's a medicine man. "And if I get that call in the dead of the night, I'll be right by your side"

12) Weird - Hanson - for all you ADDers that "don't stand out but you don't fit in", check out that song! It's ME!!

Ok, my mind's running out right now. One final general.....

13) If I'm in a particular mood, I can't stand Surrender, Sister Golden Hair, Chevy Van, Riding the Storm Out, or other particular songs which I can't think of at this time. I had some friends in a band and they played those songs along with their own (great) music. So if I start crying to the radio to a happy song, that's why. You know how some songs remind you of an ex-lover? Hungry Like The Wolf - Just thought of another. Great songs but sometimes they just make me think of them. If anyone's in the Dallas area, check out Scepter by the way! They're a Christian band now. I'll still try to promote them though. LOL. That came out wrong. I'll promote them even though somebody broke my heart. That's better. OH!!!! Summer of '69! Rock and Roll by Led Zep. Bathroom Wall. WAAAAHHHHH!!! I miss my friends!!!!! Blitzkrieg Bop.

14) I can even add a Motorhead song in! 1916. The whole song is sad. "And I lay in the mud and the guts and the blood and I cried as his body grew colder. And I called for my mother but she never came"

15) El Paso - "Down in the west Texas, town of El Paso" The guy died at the end.

16) Leader of the Pack - "I begged him to go slow, but did he listen? I'll never know. Look out! Look out! Look out! Look out! (screeching tires)"

17) Detroit Rock City - about how the headlights were in his lane and how he knows he's gonna die.

I guess death songs make me cry.

18) "You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille! Four hundred children and crops in the field!" - ok, I know....Four hungry children. Kenny Rogers

19) Roll On - Alabama

20) Lady Down On Love - another Alabama

21) When Wish Upon A Star - that old Disney song

22) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song - The Chipmunks - well, that's the version I know! It's not the same with just humans.

23) Friends are Friends Forever - If the Lord's the Lord of them...Michael W. Smith. Reminds me of an ex friend.

24) Never Say Goodbye - Bon Jovi...and the same ex friend

Ok, you get the hint! I suppose I can go On and On (Stephen Bishop) and On and On (Trixter). I have a good list if I have hair bands, heavy metal, Chipmunks, country, oldies, and gospel all in the same list. Hmmm....do any big band songs make me cry? Haven't listed any of them yet. Can't think of any yet....Or jazz? Yeah.

25) What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong. For a good reason. It's so....happy....unless it's the Ramones version then it's scary.

26) Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - U2 and also Bon Jovi. So sad!

27) I was thinking Jon Bon Jovi did a version of the above song so I was looking for it. Then I ran across this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhalnRbx4Tk First time I seen this. Sad song and I was getting SUPER JEALOUS!!!! Maybe I should become an actress so I can get a love scene with Jon.....without our spouses getting upset (I wouldn't wanna break anybody's marriage up)

Ok, got a bit of jazz covered and some Christmas songs (I know there's more Christmas songs that make me cry too)

Just watched Phantom 309. That was sad too!

Hey! 6 Days on the Road! Love that song! You just got me wanderin' on YouTube. Convoy. Yep. Love that song too. I had a trucker album and it had those songs on it. Wish I had that album on CD. I think it was another K-Tel record. All those records I wish I still had. There was also an 8-Track that I wish I had at least a cassette tape of. I should write down all of those songs off those long ago records and purchase them off of AppleITunes or something and remake those records. What's a good cheap (legal. LOL) download site to put on the computer. I don't have a MP3 player or anything like that. I'm feeling old when I have to admit that and my kids are growing up on the computer when I didn't know about computers until I was in Jr. High!.... Anyways. Where's a good place to look?

Last of the Great Whales. I heard it when I was much younger and it's a bit melodramatic but it still makes me get a bit emotional. Especially...well, I hate to admit it, but there's a version of this song that has bagpipes. Hearing the pipes always makes me a bit melancholy.

This is the saddest little song I have ever heard.

Fly

Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven's love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again

Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this mem'ry bittersweet
Until we meet

Fly, fly do not fear
Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don't wait for me
Above the universe you'll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won't forget

Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light

Celine Dion

I was adding songs to my Playlist on MySpace and I found "The Main Street Electrical Parade". It's not a sad song but it's the memories! It's on a record with songs from Disneyland/DisneyWorld. I got that in early 80's (from Disneyworld!) and loved it. So it was great to hear it again! Then I found out I can mainly recreate my first tape I ever bought! Summer Fun Vol. 2. There's only two songs that's on that tape (which I haven't had in AGES) that's not on Playlist. I'm trying to "recreate" the music of my youth. Brings tears to my eyes.

Can't quote Catcirce for some reason, but here's another Smiths song:

I Know It's Over (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD5gR1put38)

Warning: I love it, but it can be VERY, VERY depressing of a night if you're not already unhappy enough to crave that sort of thing. I mean, and not being at all glib, when listening to this track I genuinely wonder how many people have probably killed themselves to it.

"Annie's Song"
John Denver

From time to time, I think of this song, with tears of joy for those memories in my life with my then wife.

Same time, this song brings tears of lost for that special time in my life with her.

Memory: This was my song to my then wife. *smiling* I chose this song for us while we were still dating.

The words in this song spoke of my love for her. My thanks...to her...

We could be in any room in the house, I would just hold her in my arms and sing this in her ear...as we then slowly danced with love for each other.

We even danced to this song during our wedding reception and many times there after. :)

She would pleasently surprise me at any given moment, and put me into her arms and sing this song, in my ear; dancing with love for each other.

Enchanting moment.. Joyful memories. :)

Side note to add:
My then wife gave me as a gift one of those "bopping John Denver heads"..that play a clip to this song. As I relaxed on the couch, she would push the botton; the song would play..she would look at me with those beautiful brown eyes and give me a " I love you Bryan smile" and go on her merry way. This always tickled me.. A smile I would have...love ...

Now the song is gone, but the joyful memories still remain. I will always cheerish this. :) Always!!! No regrets. This was our song. A good song.

Ok before I start tearing up... I like to share the words to this beautiful song, and if I may share a vid of John Denver singing, "Annie's Song"

Btw..Annie was John's wife....

"You fill up my senses
like a night in the forest

like the mountains in springtime,
like a walk in the rain

like a storm in the desert,
like a sleepy blue ocean

you fill up my senses,
come fill me again.

Come let me love you,
let me give my life to you

let me drown in your laughter,
let me die in your arms

let me lay down beside you,
let me always be with you

come let me love you,
come love me again.

(instrumental)

You fill up my senses
like a night in the forest

like the mountains in springtime,
like a walk in the rain

like a storm in the desert,
like a sleepy blue ocean

you fill up my senses,
come fill me again."

"The Living Years"

The killer verse....

"I wasn't there that morning
When my father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say
I think I called his spirit
Later that same year
I think I heard his echo
In my baby's newborn tears
I just wish I could have told him
In the living years"

I was in Florida when my dad passed from cancer and we hadn't spoken for the prior year, so this song was written for me....or seems to have been.

From Godspell- 1973 cast starring Victor Garber as Jesus. I have done this show and cannot sing this song without crying. Sad... and hopeful in its way.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC7Kt1pXGTk

While the show is Christ from baptism to crucifixion, it is oddly not religious. If you have never seen the film with Victor Garber, you really ought to. It is amazing. But then, I find the idea of Christ in a Superman tee-shirt appealing.

Isn't It A Pity (version 1)- George Harrison

This song makes me sob every time i hear it. My mother used to get so angry at me when i would listen to this song over and over again, tears streaming down my face. It was validation for my constant dismay of my parents and others around me. The way they lived their lives and exposed me to it was a pity. This song always has spoke volumes to me. Music was my salvation when i was a little girl, thru my teens, and even now...

Pink Floyd-Don't Leave Me Now

Lyrics:-

Ooooh, babe
Don't leave me now.

Don't say it's the end of the road.
Remember the flowers I sent.
I need you, babe

To put through the shredder
In front of my friends

Ooooh Babe.

Dont leave me now.
How could you go?

When you know how I need you

To beat to a pulp on a Saturday night
Ooooh Babe.
Don't leave me now

How could you treat me this way?
Running away.
I need you, Babe.

Why are you running away?
Oooooh Babe

I dont like songs that have lyrics in them..I always prefer instrumentals when compared to other songs..for that matter yanni and richard clayderman has remained my favorite for a long time...to me it seems the instrumentals are a purer form of music...

however my favorite song is actually the opening song of the movie "chariots of fire" by vangelis...also named "chariots of fire"

every time i hear it..is causes a shiver to run down my spine...

Kutless - Perspectives

OONh8MTgcHI

It feels like your life's crashing down all around you
Let me ask if it's really so bad
Look at the world in it's suffering
Can you honestly tell me that know one else could understand
All the hurting inside

Why can't you see that freedom is sometimes simply another perspective away
Who could you be if your lens was changed for a moment,
Would you still be the same

A young child looks through a great stained glass window
Watching the people go by
Everyone seems to be wearing a red coat
His mother sees jackets in white
Now he can't understand why does she see it this way

Why can't you see that freedom is sometimes simply another perspective away
Who could you be if your lens was changed for a moment,
Would you still be the same

Yesterday, you really couldn't see
By changing your angle a new world would be
Revealed to your once blinded eyes by moving a few degrees

Why can't you see that freedom is sometimes simply another perspective away
Who could you be if your lens was changed for a moment,
Would you still be the same

Some songs, I cry just for the beauty. The lyrics may or may not be sad, or whatever... I just cry beause the notes hit the right spot in my heart. The Prayer--that song only makes my throat catch in one spot, with italian lyrics... it isn't the lyrics, it is the note progression.

WIND BENEATH MY WINGS By Bette Midler

This song reminds me of a dear friend I lost some years ago. She had Breast Cancer but enjoyed life and often smiled even when she was in pain. Our birthdays were only one day apart even though she was about 5 years older. She taught me so much about not dreading the passage of time but to embrace and enjoy it for it's own sake.
Ah~h those Bittersweet memories of Laughter and Fun and yes ultimately tears of Goodbye.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
WIND BENEATH MY WINGS By Bette Midler
Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strain.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings.

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
for you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
so high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.

LOVE IS BLUE by Paul Mauriat

Blue, blue, my world is blue
Blue is my world now I'm without you
Gray, gray, my life is gray
Cold is my heart since you went away

Red, red, my eyes are red
Crying for you alone in my bed
Green, green, my jealous heart
I doubted you and now we're apart

When we met how the bright sun shone
Then love died, now the rainbow is gone

Black, black, the nights I've known
Longing for you so lost and alone

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

This duet by Michael McDonald and Patti Labelle always makes me cry! It brings back so~o~o many painful memories!

ON MY OWN

So many times
Said it was forever
Said our love would always be true
Something in my heart always knew
I'd be lying here beside you
On my own
On my own
On my own

So many promises never should be spoken
Now I know what loving you cost
Now we're up to talking divorce
And we weren't even married
On my own
Once again now
One more time
By myself

No one said it was easy
But it once was so easy
Well I believed in love
Now here I stand
I wonder why

I'm on my own
Why did it end this way
On my own
This wasn't how it was supposed to be
On my own
I wish that we could do it all again

So many times
I know I should have told you
Losing you it cut like a knife
You walked out and there went my life
I don't want to live without you
On my own
On my own
On my own
{Chorus Repeat}

This wasn't how it was supposed to end
I wish that we could do it all again
I never dreamed I'd spend one night alone
On my own, I've got to find where I belong again
I've got to learn how to be strong again
I never dreamed I'd spend one night alone
By myself by myself
I've got to find out what was mine again
My heart is saying that it's my time again
And I have faith that I will shine again
I have faith in me
On my own
On my own
On my own

This song reminds of a lost love. Makes me cry every time, especially the live version when his partner sings back up vocals she is singing high pitch with an Irish accent so it becomes almost a wail.

Damien Rice - Delicate

We might kiss when we are alone
When nobody's watching
We might take it home
We might make out when nobody's there
It's not that we're scared
It's just that it's delicate

So why do you fill my sorrow
With the words you've borrowed
From the only place you've know
And why do you sing Hallelujah
If it means nothing to you
Why do you sing with me at all?

We might live like never before
When there's nothing to give
Well how can we ask for more
We might make love in some sacred place
The look on your face is delicate

So why do you fill my sorrow
With the words you've borrowed
From the only place you've know
And why do you sing Hallelujah
If it means nothing to you
Why do you sing with me at all?

So why do you fill my sorrow
With the words you've borrowed
From the only place you've know
And why do you sing Hallelujah
If it means nothing to you
Why do you sing with me at all?

SISTER HAZEL
Miscellaneous
Best I'll Ever Be
I miss you
I miss being overwhelmed by you
And I need rescue
I think I'm fading away
But I keep thinking that you'll wake me up with a whisper in my ear
I keep hoping that you'll sneak in my room

So I wait and I wait
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days we laid by the school (http://www.songlyrics.com/sister-hazel/best-i-ll-ever-be-lyrics/#) and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be

I miss you
I miss talking all night long with you
And I need this to find a way to your home
My love can you hear me
Have I been hoping loud enough, wishing hard enough
Can you see me when I'm asleep all alone - alone

So I wait and I wait
And I run myself in the same old circles
I sit and I stare
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days that we laid by the school and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be

Can't keep my hands from shaking
Stumbling through the wreckage again
But you're gone

So I wait and I wait
And I run myself in the same old circles
And I sit and I stare
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days that we laid on our backs and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be
Was that the best I'll ever be
Was that the best I'll ever be

1: Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton

2: Someone Put Your Hand Out by the late Michael Jackson (this particular song wasn't a hit as such but it does bring tears to me) and here are the lyrics which I sourced from www.elyrics.net (http://www.elyrics.net)

SOMEONE PUT YOUR HAND OUT (BY THE LATE MICHAEL JACKSON)

Never try to talk about it
It's got to sound good to me inside
I just think about it

I'm so undemanding
'Cause they say love is blind
I've lived this life pretending
I can bear this hurt deep inside

The truth is I'm been longing
A love that's so divine
I've searched this whole world wishing
She'll be there time after time

So someone put your hand out
I'm begging for your love
All I do is hand out a heart that needs your love

I've lived my life the lonely
A soul that cries of shame
With handicapped emotions
Save me from what still remains

I'll be your story hero
A serenading ryne
I'm needing that someone
Save me from the path I'm on

Someone put your hand out
I'm begging for your love
'Cause all I do is hand out a heart that needs your love
Someone put your hand out
I'm begging for your love
All I do is hand out a heart that needs your love

When you say we'll dance 'til the light of day
It's just like the children running with joy
When we pray will you promise me you'll always stay
It's because I'm needing that someone

Someone put your hand out
I'm begging for your love
'Cause all I seem to do is hand out a heart that needs your love
Someone put your hand out
I'm begging for your love
All I do is hand out
Someone put your hand out
I'm begging for your love
All I do is hand out
Love

I think about a particular forum member when I hear this song (no I'm not saying who it is) and it resonates so well.

I may be weird as most songs that make me tear up are not normally considered sappy by most folks. I have two right now that tear me up pretty good.

This is Cory Branan, a singer/songwriter friend of mine, doing a song about the worst maritime disaster in American history that most people have never even heard of:

Cory Branan - The Wreck Of The Sultana (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfCe0B77i3w)

And this is one by Austin Lucas, another singer/songwriter that amazes me:

Austin Lucas - Shoulders (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI_cRGQa_T4)

It didn't but it came closest

He said Im gonna buy this place and burn it down
Im gonna put it six feet underground
He said Im gonna buy this place and watch it fall
Stand here beside me baby in the crumbling walls
Oh Im gonna buy this place and start a fire
Stand here until I fill all your hearts desires
Because Im gonna buy this place and see it burn
Do back the things it did to you in return
Ah,ah,ah
He said oh Im gonna buy a gun and start a war
If you can tell me something worth fighting for
Oh and Im gonna buy this place, thats what I said
Blame it upon a rush of blood to the head

And honey
All the movements youre starting to make
See me crumble and fall on my face
And I know the mistakes that I made
See it all disappear without a trace
And they call as they beckon you on
They say start as you mean to go on
Start as you mean to go on

He said Im gonna buy this place and see it go
Stand here beside me baby watch the orange glow
Somell laugh and some just sit and cry
But you just sit down there and you wonder why
So Im gonna buy a gun and start a war
If you can tell me something worth fighting for
Im gonna buy this place, thats what I said
Blame it upon a rush of blood to the head

And honey
All the movements youre starting to make
See me crumble and fall on my face
And I know the mistakes that I made
See it all disappear without a trace
And they call as they beckon you on
They said start as you mean to go on
As you mean to go on, as you mean to go on

So meet me by the bridge, meet me by the lane
When am I going to see that pretty face again
Meet me on the road, meet me where I said
Blame it all upon
A rush of blood to the head

I'm not much of a crier but Dan Fogelberg's tribute to his dying father "Leader of The Band" always gets me. About anything that makes me think of my dad can get a response.

CAN'T and won't listen to songs about dogs dying.

In the next song there is powerful mixture of strength and weakness. When Johnny Cash sings in the video song Hurt, it is very touching. Even though song was originally performed by Nine Inch Nails, this great old man can sing it, like it was his very own.

His beloved wife is gone and Cash most likely knows, that he is the next in line. The video proves, at least to me, that while old and physically weak, you still can have the inner spirit: strong and beautiful.<o></o>
