I recieved a prescription for dexedrine 3 days ago and my experience hasn't been as positive as it has been for other's.

Day 1: i took 5mg, didnt notice too much difference, slight increase in mood maybe, a bit clearer head.

Day 2: Woke up at 3:30am took 5mg, felt a bit calmer, head felt slightly clearer, felt slightly nauseas, headache, took another 5mg at 6:30am, nausea and headache increased, at one stage i felt a bit spacey but it didnt last long. Had a severe headache for the rest of the day, went to bed at 10:30pm.

Day 3: I took 5mg at 4:30am had a very bad headache, took some xanax and the headache subsided a bit but still very strong. Took another 5mg at 12pm, headache reduces slightly over the next few minutes. Took another 5mg at 1pm, headache reduces more, was feeling calm clear headed, but still with a slight headache, as time passes(about 1.5 hours) the headache comes back strong, so im thinking the dexedrine is actually helping the headache's so i took another 5mg, now i had a very slight headache, felt calmer, clear headed(but still don't think I'v reached an optimal dose). One hour later the headache comes back, so for the next few hours my headache gradually starts getting worse and worse im talking unbearable side splitting headaches. I took another 0.5mg of xanax, helped a bit, was very tempted to take some codeine it was that bad.

Now im confused is it the dexedrine thats giving me the headaches? or is it the rebound causing the headaches? Thats some pretty fast and hardcore rebounding, could i really have had a rebound after 2 days on such low doses? It doesnt get me high at all, so i don't know how a rebound can be that much worse then the effect.

Any positive effects from the drug it was being drowned out by the headaches. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have only read one other post on the internet where someone complained about really bad headaches that they had to take vicodin. Is it gonna get better with time? should i stick with it? is it allright to pop some codeine till i get adjusted to it?

Headaches are a side effect of dexedrine - likely due to the increase in blood pressure. I'm not sure if these go away as you get used to the drug or not.
Are you having something to eat when you're taking the pills - headache due to low blood sugar? Eating may help with any nausia the drug might cause.
I wouldn't take codeine unless the headache gets really bad and if it does you should stop taking the Dex anyway and talk to your Dr - which you should do at the first opportunity.
Good luck

I dont know what to say except that I've been experiencing the same kind of thing on adderall, and also about a month ago when i tried concerta. For me it was less side-splitting headaches... more like general dizziness along with headaches (the headache would move around - forehead, temples, back of my neck... etc but it was an all day, multi-day sort of thing.)

I was on adderall for three weeks and stopped today after seeing my doctor - some days i wouldn't take it for whatever reason (wanted to see if the headache would leave, didn't think it was helping, forgot... had a midterm... whatever) and on those days soemtimes the headache left, sometimes it didn't. also somtimes i didn't get it even ON the med... so i have no idea what to think.

it is very difficult to tell though becuase I wasn't sleeping or eating enough during most of that time. (when i say not enough, i mean REALLY not enough)

I want to try dexedrine, but i'm afraid of the headaches coming back!! I have very normal blood pressure (in the low range for sure) but I've never had it measured while i was ON a med, so maybe my heart just over-reacts to them?? who knows??

So basically.... I want to say that there's no point in waiting to see if the headaches go away, but I dont' know that for sure because everyone is different. I waited for mine to leave... but yours sounds much worse than mine was. (and mine never left either)

I hope it's better now at least!!

All I can say to this is I myself experence no such effects as the headaches

What I do experense when the drug whears off and I go back to my usual foggy brain state is that I now feel high after the drug has worn off

I would compare it to smoking a couple of joints but I know what it really is , it is the difference between clear thinking for 5-6 hours to being foggy brained again.

I also know that if I take another dose as the first starts to were off the clear thinking is continued and the foggy brain then sets in later.

I guess looking at it from earlier years where I used to smoke pot to get high , now im doing dex to get straight and then going back to being on a permant high for free

A complete reversal of earlier years
