Hi there. I started Strattera nearly two weeks ago. I have had many of the typical side effects...fatigue in the afternoons, chills, tingling scalp, nauseousness, constipation...

The last two days I have been getting heartburn. I used to get it often. Last Sunday I finished a 14 day supply of Prilosec OTC. You take one pill a day for 14 days and then you aren't supposed to use it for 4 months. I was doing great. After the second day on it my heartburn was gone. Now it's back. Can it be the Strattera? No matter what I eat, no matter how mild, I am suffering. I can't do the Prilosec again for 4 months. Rolaids/Tums helps, but doesn't alleviate the problem. Whenever I burp it burns.

Anyone else experience this? I already had enough side effects. This sucks!

I understand that one of the side effects of Strattera can be heartburn, so yes, it could be that.

Are you taking your tablets with food? I used to take mine during breakfast to stop this from ever happening.

Good luck : )

I have never got any heartburn from taking Strattera, but everyone's body is different. It could be that you have a history of heartburn.

I do have a "new" history of heartburn, yes. I started getting heartburn about a month ago. No matter what foods I ate, I would burp and then I could feel it rising and it would burn. I took the Prilosec and it went away by the second day. That stuff is supposed to be good for 4 months. Since it was my first time taking it, I can't really speak for how well the relief lasts. For me I was heartburn free for about 3 weeks. Now it's back. If I get heartburn today it will be four days in a row. And this isn't mild heartburn. When I burp and it burns, my mouth waters as if I am going to be sick. And it lasts all day long...not just once or twice during the day. If this is a side effect, it is one I cannot live with. Very uncomfortable.

Today I am going to eat the mildest foods I can come up with and see if that helps. Oh, and I do take my Strattera after I have eaten breakfast. Otherwise I feel extremely nauseous.

After breakfast? Try taking it halfway through, or even immediately before. That way its not the last thing in!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that today and see if it helps!
